OfferLens is presented as a tool for researching a job offer—not as proof that an offer is fair or that your information is private. Its public website says you can enter a company, job title, offered salary, and location, with an optional CV upload. It does not establish how long submitted information is kept, whether it is deleted, or whether it is shared. Check the service’s privacy terms before submitting a CV or other sensitive details.

What OfferLens says it does

The public OfferLens website describes an offer-research tool that uses company, job title, salary, and location information. It also offers an optional CV upload and says it searches Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn, Levels.fyi, Blind, and Comparably. The page does not explain enough about its research method to establish how it weighs sources, handles conflicting data, or arrives at a particular estimate.

That distinction matters: a list of sources is not a guarantee that every source contains a relevant, current, or comparable salary for your role and location. Treat any result as a prompt for further checking, not a promised salary or an appraisal of the employer.

Is OfferLens privacy-first?

The available information about the myofferlens.com service does not establish its data-retention, deletion, or sharing practices. The “privacy-first” description should therefore be treated as a question to verify, not a confirmed privacy guarantee. Before uploading a CV, look for the service’s own privacy policy and confirm what it collects, why it needs the information, who can access it, how long it is retained, and how to request deletion.

A separately described Chrome extension called “OfferLens: Salary & CV Match on LinkedIn” is not evidence of the website service’s practices. Its listing says a CV stays in the browser and is sent while an analysis runs, and warns that salary estimates are a guide rather than a guarantee. Do not transfer those statements to myofferlens.com without confirmation from the service itself. Chrome Web Store listing

How to use an offer reality check

  1. Check the inputs. Confirm the company, job title, location, and salary you enter match the offer. Decide whether the optional CV upload is necessary; avoid submitting sensitive information until you understand the service’s privacy terms.
  2. Read estimates as evidence with uncertainty. Ask what roles, locations, seniority levels, and dates are represented. If those details are not clear, do not treat a number as a precise market rate.
  3. Compare the whole offer with your needs. Include stated compensation, benefits and other terms, local costs, and the role’s fit with your career and workplace priorities. Housing, debt, healthcare, and transportation can materially affect what compensation works for you.
  4. Set your own range. Use relevant market information and cost of living to establish a realistic low-to-high salary band before negotiating. There is no universal weighting formula for balancing salary, benefits, location, and role fit.
  5. Decide what to clarify or negotiate. Consider the timing, the offer deadline, and which terms matter most to you. For complex or high-stakes situations, a career adviser or job-offer negotiation coach can provide individualized help.

Harvard’s Mignone Center for Career Success recommends identifying personal needs, researching early, setting a realistic salary range, and evaluating the full offer. Its guidance is a useful framework, not personalized financial or legal advice. Harvard FAS: Negotiating an Offer

Should you disclose your salary history?

There is no source-supported universal rule to disclose or withhold salary history. A 2025 American Economic Association field experiment by Amanda Y. Agan, Bo Cowgill, and Laura K. Gee involved hundreds of recruiters and more than 2,000 job applications. The researchers randomized salary questions and candidate disclosures and reported effects on recruiter demand and offers. That evidence shows disclosure can matter in the studied setting; it does not establish one strategy that will work for every candidate, employer, or jurisdiction. Check local pay-transparency rules

Legal requirements depend on where the job is advertised and other details. For example, Ontario’s official Employment Standards Act guide says that, beginning January 1, 2026, many publicly advertised job postings must include expected compensation information and disclose whether AI is used to screen, assess, or select applicants. The guide describes exceptions, including cases where expected compensation or the top of the range exceeds $200,000 per year. It also says the requirements do not oblige an employer to offer compensation at the advertised level or within the posted range. These are Ontario-specific rules, not a general rule for other locations. Ontario: Your Guide to the Employment Standards Act

Use the relevant government source for the jurisdiction where you are applying; do not assume that a salary range in a posting guarantees that amount or that Ontario’s requirements apply elsewhere.
