Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For a nonstop YouTube stream from OBS on Airtel Xstream Fiber, set H.264 to CBR, use a 2-second keyframe interval, and choose a bitrate that your actual connection can sustain—not one inferred from Airtel’s advertised plan speed. YouTube recommends 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 12 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. Test from the computer and network you will use, then monitor OBS and YouTube stream health. Airtel’s advertised speeds are “up to” figures, and its broadband terms describe a monthly fair usage policy (FUP), so neither a plan label nor a speed ceiling guarantees an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast.
Recommended OBS settings for a nonstop YouTube stream
Use YouTube’s encoder guidance as the platform ceiling, then set a bitrate your connection can sustain with room for ordinary fluctuations and other household traffic. The figures below are YouTube’s recommended H.264 video bitrates; audio and other network use add to the total upload demand.
| Ingest resolution and frame rate | Recommended H.264 video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 240p–720p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 10 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps |
| 1440p at 30 fps | 15 Mbps |
| 1440p at 60 fps | 24 Mbps |
| 2160p at 30 fps | 30 Mbps |
| 2160p at 60 fps | 35 Mbps |
For a lower-motion or lower-resolution stream, select the matching row rather than choosing a higher bitrate simply because an Airtel plan advertises a fast connection. The recommendations are not a guarantee that a particular line can sustain the stream. YouTube also publishes AV1 and H.265 bitrate ranges; check its current encoder guidance before using either codec, since supported options and recommendations may change.
Set these encoder options in OBS
- Rate control: CBR.
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds. YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Codec: H.264 is a clear starting point for the bitrate table above. YouTube supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 over RTMP/RTMPS; select a codec supported by your chosen OBS encoder and YouTube ingest workflow.
- Transport: Use RTMPS where available; YouTube recommends it for encrypted transport.
- Audio: AAC or MP3 are listed for RTMP/RTMPS. YouTube recommends 128 Kbps for stereo audio.
OBS labels can vary by version, operating system, and encoder. In its output or streaming settings, choose the rate-control, keyframe, codec, and bitrate options corresponding to the values above. Do not assume an encoder-specific control is available if your selected hardware or software encoder does not expose it.

Can Airtel Xstream Fiber handle a nonstop YouTube stream?
Only a test at your location can establish whether the connection can sustain your chosen output. Airtel markets broadband tiers using speeds “up to” stated maxima, and availability varies by address. An advertised tier—especially a download-speed figure—is not evidence of the sustained upload available to the computer running OBS. Check the local Airtel plan and measure upload on the actual streaming machine, using the intended network path and accounting for other devices’ traffic.
Airtel’s broadband terms describe a 3333 GB monthly FUP threshold in a billing cycle, after which service speed may be reduced to 1 Mbps. The terms also say Airtel may amend the FUP. Confirm the terms that apply to your market and plan; “unlimited” should not be read as proof that a long-running stream has no data threshold or possible speed reduction.

Estimate monthly data use before running 24/7
Multiply the combined audio-and-video bitrate by the broadcast duration to estimate data transfer. At a fixed bitrate, the stream’s data use accumulates continuously, so a nonstop broadcast can reach a monthly threshold even when no one is downloading files. Treat this as an estimate: actual use depends on the encoded stream and other network activity. Compare your estimate with the current FUP terms for your plan.
Set up and test OBS before the broadcast
- Create or select the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or choose the broadcast and copy its stream key into OBS. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Measure the actual upload connection. Run an upload test from the computer and network location that will run OBS. Consider household traffic and normal fluctuations, then leave headroom rather than setting OBS to the full measured upload rate. This is practical guidance: the sustainable capacity of a connection can vary, while YouTube advises choosing quality appropriate to the connection.
- Enter the encoder settings. Use CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, a compatible codec and transport, and the bitrate for your target resolution and frame rate. Set audio in a supported format; for stereo, YouTube’s recommendation is 128 Kbps.
- Run a representative test. Include the movement and audio you expect in the real stream. YouTube Help advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.”
- Check both sides of the connection. Watch YouTube’s stream-health status and OBS’s connection statistics during the test. A clean-looking OBS preview does not by itself show that YouTube is receiving a healthy stream.
- Recheck the continuous-broadcast requirements. Before relying on a purported 24/7 run, verify YouTube’s current rules for broadcast duration and archiving. The guidance cited here does not establish a current maximum duration or guarantee indefinite uptime.
Troubleshoot dropped frames and unstable streaming
- OBS reports dropped frames or connection trouble: Check the measured upload and local network traffic before increasing encoder bitrate. OBS recommends connection troubleshooting such as trying a different server. Re-test after each change and monitor YouTube stream health.
- The stream becomes unstable when other people use the network: Their traffic may reduce the capacity available to OBS. Repeat the test under realistic household conditions and choose a bitrate that leaves usable headroom.
- The stream degrades after extended use: Check whether the plan’s FUP threshold may have been reached and review the current Airtel terms. A plan’s “unlimited” label does not rule out a threshold or speed reduction.
- YouTube reports poor stream health despite a successful upload test: Confirm that OBS is using the intended broadcast key and compatible settings, then test with representative audio and motion. A brief speed test alone does not establish that the connection will remain stable for the length of a broadcast.
- A selected codec or option is missing in OBS: The available controls depend on the chosen encoder and hardware or software support. Select a supported encoder/codec combination and confirm the applicable YouTube guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep prerecorded video live on YouTube without leaving a computer and OBS running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service that loops uploaded videos or playlists. Upload a recording, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is YouTube-only and does not broadcast from a camera.
