These are starting settings, not a guarantee that OBS will run unattended without interruption.
Recommended OBS settings for bhajan music
For a simple visual paired with stereo music, 720p30 is a sensible starting mode when upload stability matters most; 1080p30 uses slightly more bandwidth and can provide a sharper image. YouTube’s figures below are H.264 encoder recommendations, not a measurement of your connection. Check the current guidance in YouTube’s live encoder settings.

Choose resolution by connection, not habit
A bhajan stream with a static image or slowly changing visuals usually does not need a high frame rate. The practical choice is the mode your connection can sustain steadily. YouTube transcodes an incoming stream into multiple viewer playback formats, so you choose the resolution and bitrate sent to YouTube rather than encoding every viewer rendition yourself.
For the two 30 fps examples above, the recommended video rates differ by 1 Mbps. Add the 128 kbps audio bitrate, then leave roughly 20% capacity beyond the total. Treat that as a planning guide: concurrent household or office uploads can reduce the bandwidth available to OBS.

Prepare YouTube before opening OBS
- Check live eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. First-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available. See YouTube’s computer live-streaming tips.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Set its title, description, and visibility. For a scheduled stream, YouTube offers public, private, or unlisted visibility, along with DVR and latency controls; see Manage live stream settings.
- Copy the stream URL and key into OBS. The key tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it. Treat it like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
- Use the RTMPS workflow. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery. HLS is not needed for the ordinary stereo H.264 setup described here; YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency.

Configure the bhajan audio and playlist in OBS
Set the stream’s audio output to stereo at 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps using AAC. Check that the intended source is audible in OBS’s audio meter and that it is not clipping. The exact playlist-source setup can vary with the source files and OBS setup, so verify the actual playback path rather than assuming that a playlist will advance or restart correctly.

- Load the same material you plan to broadcast. Test the playlist, file transitions, and any visual source with the real bhajan recordings. Confirm that playback continues as intended when a track ends.
- Listen for gaps and level changes. Check the start and end of tracks, transitions, and quieter passages. Adjust source levels so the stream is audible without clipping.
- Check YouTube’s preview before going live. Confirm that picture and sound arrive correctly at the live control room. YouTube explicitly advises testing before a stream and monitoring its health; see YouTube’s streaming tips.
The source material, OBS version, computer, and upload speed all affect the right setup. The settings above are not a verified playlist configuration for every system. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality; these settings alone do not establish guaranteed continuous operation.
Clear music rights before broadcasting
Having an audio file or a license does not necessarily prevent a live-stream interruption. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match may replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it, or terminate it. If you have licensed third-party material, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

- Confirm rights for both the sound recording and the underlying composition.
- Check that the rights cover the territories and type of use you intend, including a live broadcast.
- If a third party’s Content ID may identify the material, arrange allowlisting with the owner before going live.
Bhajans are not automatically free to broadcast: the recording or arrangement may still be protected even when the devotional composition is old or traditional.

A local OBS broadcast depends on the computer, OBS, source playback, and internet connection all remaining available. Keep the machine powered and prevent sleep, maintain a stable upload connection, and monitor the encoder and YouTube live control room. YouTube’s guidance supports testing and monitoring, but the sources do not establish a playlist configuration or restart mechanism that guarantees an unattended, nonstop broadcast.

- Stream health becomes unstable: check whether the available upload bandwidth is sufficient for the total bitrate plus headroom; pause other uploads if possible or select a lower video bitrate.
- YouTube preview has no sound: inspect OBS audio meters and confirm that the intended source is routed to the stream output.
- A track stops or the playlist does not continue: verify playlist behavior locally with the same source and playback path before going live; do not assume a single successful track proves continuous playback.
- The live feed is interrupted after starting: check YouTube’s live control room for stream-health or copyright notices, then address the specific warning.
