Oasis Security announced a $35 million Series A extension on May 1, 2024, co-led by Accel, Cyberstarts, and Sequoia Capital. The company said the extension brought its total funding to $75 million. Oasis focuses on managing non-human identities (NHIs)—the service accounts, roles, secrets, tokens, and keys that applications and other workloads use to access systems.

What Oasis Security raised—and who invested

The May 2024 financing was a Series A extension, not a new $35 million Series A. Oasis said the extension doubled its Series A valuation and brought total funding to $75 million. The company said it would use the money for research and development and go-to-market execution.

What non-human identity management means

A non-human identity is a machine or workload identity used by software rather than a person signing in. Applications, services, automation, and AI agents need identities to authenticate to other systems and access resources. Common examples include:

  • BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
  • Service accounts and service principals: identities assigned to applications or services.
  • IAM roles: permissions a workload can assume to use cloud resources.
  • Secrets, tokens, and keys: credentials or cryptographic material used to authenticate or authorize access.

Oasis’s 2024 product article said NHIs outnumber human identities by 10–50 times. That is the company’s published estimate, not an independently verified industry-wide measurement.

Why machine identities create a security problem

The challenge is not simply that there are many credentials. Organizations need to know which identities exist, who owns them, which workloads use them, what they can reach, and whether their access is still appropriate. An untracked or over-privileged identity can leave a path into systems long after the original project or owner has changed.

Credential upkeep also has an operational trade-off: stale or exposed credentials need to be rotated or revoked, but changing one without knowing its consumers can interrupt production. SecurityWeek’s description of Oasis says its platform connects without agents, observes NHI use, gathers information about owners, consumers, privileges, accessed resources, and risk posture, then assigns severity scores and recommends remediation.

How Oasis says its platform manages NHIs

Oasis describes its approach as a continuous lifecycle rather than a one-time inventory. Its platform claims span discovery, context, risk assessment, policy, and remediation across cloud and hybrid environments.

Discover identities and map their use

The platform is described as finding NHIs across cloud, SaaS, PaaS, CI/CD, and on-premises environments, then mapping owners, consumers, permissions, and accessed resources. That context is intended to help teams identify which credentials are active and what depends on them.

Assess risk and apply policy

Oasis says it evaluates exposure and privileges, prioritizes risk, and supports policy enforcement. The practical goal is to identify identities that are stale, over-privileged, or behaving in ways that warrant investigation, then focus action on the highest-risk cases.

Remediate and provision

Oasis describes recommending or automating actions such as right-sizing access, rotating credentials, and revoking stale identities. In April 2025, the company announced NHI Provisioning, which it said automates creating, governing, and securing identities from the outset. The announcement described support for AWS, Azure, GCP, on-premises environments, and vaults including HashiCorp, Azure Key Vault, and CyberArk.

Provisioning extends the problem from finding credentials after they exist to setting ownership and controls when identities are created. It does not, by itself, establish that Oasis replaces a secrets vault; the company’s announcement describes integrations with vaults.

How Oasis’s scope has expanded since the funding

The 2024 financing was aimed at a company focused on NHI management. Oasis’s later announcements describe a broader identity-security and AI-agent direction, including NHI provisioning, NHI threat detection, and agentic access management. Its current platform description claims it can map agents, identities, and permissions; automate agent-identity provisioning; enforce policies; and rotate credentials across AWS, Azure, GCP, identity providers, SaaS, and AI services. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independent evaluations of product performance.

Oasis also announced a vendor-agnostic Non-Human Identity Management Fundamentals Certification in September 2025 for security and identity professionals working across cloud, SaaS, CI/CD, and AI ecosystems. The expansion signals how the company frames the category: not only as credential cleanup, but as governance of machine and agent access throughout its lifecycle.

What the announcement does—and does not—show

The funding announcement is evidence of investor backing and the company’s stated plans, not proof that its product eliminates NHI risk or outperforms alternatives. For a buyer evaluating this kind of platform, useful questions include whether it can discover the identities in the environments that matter, connect them to accountable owners and real consumers, prioritize actionable risks, and remediate without disrupting dependent services. Provisioning and AI-agent coverage matter if those are part of the organization’s identity footprint.

Oasis co-founder and CEO Danny Brickman described the motivation this way: “We are witnessing an unprecedented identity security crisis where non-human identities are at the epicenter, with severe business repercussions for many organizations.” That is the company’s rationale for the product category; each organization still needs to assess its own exposure, integrations, and operational requirements.
