Nvidia’s AI PC hardware is no longer just a hint: the company announced its RTX Spark platform on May 31, 2026, for Windows laptops and compact desktops, with systems expected in fall 2026. RTX Spark pairs a Blackwell GPU with a 20-core Grace CPU; Nvidia also says more Spark chips are planned. The performance figures published so far are Nvidia claims, not independent test results.
What Nvidia is making for AI PCs
RTX Spark is a platform for Windows personal-AI PCs, not a standalone consumer graphics card. Nvidia describes it as a superchip for laptops and compact desktops that can run AI agents and creative workloads locally, as well as games. The company announced systems for fall 2026, but did not publish retail prices in its announcement. Nvidia’s RTX Spark announcement lists ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface and MSI among the planned system makers, with Acer and GIGABYTE models to follow.
What is inside RTX Spark
The announced superchip combines a Blackwell RTX GPU with 6,144 CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores, linked through NVLink-C2C to a 20-core Grace CPU. MediaTek collaborated on the custom Arm-based CPU design. Nvidia says the platform supports up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 1 petaflop of AI compute. Those are maximum vendor specifications, not results from independent system testing.
Nvidia says RTX Spark can run models with up to 120 billion parameters and a context window of up to 1 million tokens locally. It also claims 12K video editing and gaming above 100 frames per second at 1440p. These figures describe capabilities Nvidia advertises; actual performance will depend on the finished system, software and workload.

- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
How Windows and security fit in
Microsoft is working with Nvidia on Windows integration and security. The companies describe Windows security primitives alongside Nvidia OpenShell, software intended to provide policy controls, containment, identity management and routing between local and cloud models. This matters because an AI PC is not defined by its processor alone: people evaluating one will also want to know which models and agents it can run, how those tools handle private data, and what controls are available. The announcement describes the intended software approach, but does not provide independent evaluations of its security or a complete compatibility list.
What the N1X, N1, N2 and N3 roadmap means
At Computex 2026, Jensen Huang described Nvidia’s plans to expand the Spark family. Tom’s Hardware reported that the announced superchip was formerly known as N1X, that a smaller N1 chip had not yet been detailed, and that N2 and N3 Spark chips were planned for future AI PCs. Huang said, “We’re going to expand our family… We’re going to expand the footprint of this architecture, and we’re going to extend this architecture for a very long time.” Tom’s Hardware’s Computex report presents this as a roadmap, not a detailed specification or availability schedule for each future chip.

RTX Spark versus an RTX 5090 PC
The closest current Nvidia consumer-GPU reference in the announcement materials is the GeForce RTX 5090. At CES 2025, Nvidia said the RTX 5090 delivers 3,352 trillion AI operations per second (TOPS), describing GeForce as a way to bring AI capabilities to mainstream PCs. Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 50 Series announcement is useful context, but its TOPS figure should not be treated as directly comparable to RTX Spark’s “up to 1 petaflop” claim: the announcements do not establish a shared test method or workload.
| Consideration | GeForce RTX 5090 PC | RTX Spark system |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A PC built around Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. | A planned Windows laptop or compact desktop platform combining a Blackwell GPU and Grace CPU. |
| AI hardware figures | Nvidia stated 3,352 trillion AI operations per second (TOPS) for the RTX 5090 at CES 2025. | Nvidia claims up to 1 petaflop of AI compute and up to 128GB unified memory. |
| Portability and power efficiency | Not established by the cited RTX 5090 announcement for a complete system; depends on the PC configuration. | Laptop and compact-desktop form factors are planned; independent battery-life and power tests are not available in the cited announcement. |
| Availability and price | The CES announcement identifies the graphics card, but does not establish a complete PC’s price or configuration. | Nvidia announced partner systems for fall 2026; retail pricing was not stated in the announcement. |
The right choice depends on what you need now. A 5090-based desktop is a distinct option for high-end graphics and AI workloads; RTX Spark is a forthcoming integrated platform with a unified-memory design and laptop or compact-desktop targets. Compare the actual model, memory, power, software support and total system price once manufacturers publish their configurations. The available announcements do not provide independent benchmarks that settle which option is faster for a particular task.

When to buy or wait
If you need a PC now, choose based on available systems and measured performance for your actual applications rather than waiting on an unpriced platform. If local AI models, unified memory or a more portable system are central to your plans, it may be worth comparing RTX Spark PCs when partner specifications and prices appear. Fall 2026 is Nvidia’s announced system availability window; it is not a guarantee that every configuration will launch everywhere on the same date.
