Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →There is no one-to-one Nvidia equivalent for an older AMD Radeon GPU. The closest match depends on the exact card, game, resolution, settings, and test system. For a useful comparison, start with the Radeon model you own or are considering, then compare its gaming results with specific GeForce models and check features, memory, power, fit, and driver support before choosing.
How to compare an older Radeon with a GeForce
Compare exact models rather than assuming that Radeon and GeForce families line up generation for generation. A benchmark result is meaningful only in its tested context: the game or test suite, resolution, graphics settings, driver versions, and test platform can all affect the outcome. Even an approximate performance match in one workload may not hold in another.
Tom’s Hardware’s GPU Benchmarks Hierarchy 2026 provides comparative gaming results, while its 2020–2021 and Legacy GPU Benchmarks Hierarchy offers context for older cards. Treat either as a snapshot of its stated test conditions, not a guarantee of performance in every game or on every system. Check the methodology and the specific model rows before drawing a conclusion.
Potential Nvidia alternatives by Radeon model
RX 580, Vega 56, and RX 5700 are useful starting points for model-level comparisons because they appear in the cited comparative performance material. GTX 1060, GTX 1070, and RTX 2060 are candidate GeForce models to investigate—not confirmed equivalents on the information available here. Do not treat a model pairing as definitive without checking the same benchmark row and its test conditions.

| Radeon starting point | GeForce models to investigate | What the available comparisons establish |
|---|---|---|
| Radeon RX 580 | GeForce GTX 1060; other exact models should be checked against benchmark rows | Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 hierarchy includes RX 580 8GB and comparative gaming results. The available material does not establish a definitive GTX 1060 equivalence or a numerical match. |
| Radeon Vega 56 | GeForce RTX 2060; compare other candidates using model-specific results | The legacy hierarchy places Vega 56 and RTX 2060 in the same broad comparison set; that alone does not establish equal performance. |
| Radeon RX 5700 | Check exact GTX 10-, GTX 16-, and RTX 20-series candidates against benchmark results | The 2026 hierarchy includes RX 5700. The available material does not establish a definitive GeForce equivalent or numerical match. |
NVIDIA’s GeForce graphics-card comparison page can help compare specifications for selected models. Its reference-board figures may differ from partner cards, so use the specific card manufacturer’s specifications for a purchase decision.
Check more than average frame rate
A performance match is only one part of an upgrade decision. Compare the same games at the resolution and settings you actually use, and consider frame-time consistency as well as average frame rate when those results are available. Then check the practical differences that can change whether a card suits your PC.

- Features: GTX and RTX labels do not mean all cards offer the same feature support. Verify the specific model’s ray-tracing and upscaling capabilities rather than inferring them from a broad family name.
- Memory: Check both capacity and memory type. Capacity by itself does not establish bandwidth, speed, or suitability for a particular game or workload.
- Power: Confirm the card’s power requirements and connectors against your power supply. A performance comparison cannot tell you whether your existing PSU can safely support the card.
- Physical fit: Check the exact card’s dimensions and your case clearance. Partner versions of a GPU can vary in size and cooling design.
- Support: Verify drivers for the precise GPU model and your operating system through the manufacturer’s support pages.
Verify driver support for the exact card
AMD’s 2025 driver-support update describes two optimized driver paths: one for RDNA 1 and RDNA 2, covering RX 5000 and RX 6000 series, and another for RDNA 3 and RDNA 4, covering RX 7000 and RX 9000 series. That description does not, by itself, set an end-of-support date for every older Radeon product. AMD says, “We’ve heard your feedback and want to clear up the confusion around the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2 driver release.”
For an older card, use the manufacturer’s support page for the exact model and operating system rather than relying on assumptions about its generation. For example, AMD’s Radeon RX 570 support page lists model-specific downloads and OS support. Check the corresponding page for whichever GPU you have or plan to buy.

What to check before buying a used card
Past benchmark performance does not establish a used card’s current price, condition, or value. Compare local listings at the time you shop, and assess the particular card rather than the GPU name alone.
