NVIDIA has discontinued the base SHIELD TV, according to a 2 October 2026 report from TechRadar. The SHIELD TV Pro remains listed on NVIDIA’s US product page for $299. That is $100, or 50%, above the Pro’s $199 US launch price in 2019—but NVIDIA’s reported explanation cites rising component costs, including memory, not memory alone.
Is the NVIDIA SHIELD TV discontinued?
Yes. TechRadar reported on 2 October 2026 that NVIDIA had discontinued the lower-tier SHIELD TV. The report follows a more uncertain update in July: Android Authority said NVIDIA described the base model as largely out of stock because of demand, had no update on future availability, and said the SHIELD line continued to receive updates. That July account reflected the status at the time; it is not the latest availability report.
The SHIELD TV Pro is a separate model and remains listed on NVIDIA’s US product page. A listing and price do not guarantee that it is in stock or available at the same price in every country or retailer.
What changed in the price?
| Product or price point | Price | Source and context |
|---|---|---|
| SHIELD TV starting price | $149 | NVIDIA’s US announcement, 28 October 2019; the release said “starting at” this price. |
| SHIELD TV Pro launch price | $199 | NVIDIA’s US announcement, 28 October 2019. |
| SHIELD TV Pro current listing | $299 | NVIDIA’s US product page, accessed 2 October 2026; a current listing, not a guaranteed transaction price. |
TechRadar describes the Pro’s move from $199 to $299 as a $100 increase, or 50%. The $199 figure is the 2019 launch price; it does not establish every price the Pro may have had at retailers in the intervening years. NVIDIA’s 2019 announcement covered both models and their launch pricing.

Why did the SHIELD TV Pro go up to $299?
According to TechRadar, NVIDIA attributed the base-model decision and Pro price increase to component-cost pressure and said that “the cost of components, including memory, has increased substantially across the industry.” This is the company’s reported explanation, relayed by TechRadar—not evidence that memory alone caused the increase.
The available statement does not quantify component-cost changes or say how much memory, rather than other components, contributed. No independent memory-price figure or sales data is established by these reports, so the “memory crisis” framing should not be read as a measured breakdown of the Pro’s price.
