Nova Era: Atom’s Steam playtest is underway and is scheduled to run through October 11, 2026, at 10:00 UTC. The developer says to visit the game’s Steam page and download the demo to participate, but Steam currently shows a “Request Access” control and says access may be offered when the developer is ready for more players. The full game remains listed as “Coming soon”; this is a test, not a full release.

How to join the Nova Era: Atom playtest

The developer’s September 28 announcement gives the participation route as the Nova Era: Atom Steam page, where players can download the demo. The scheduled playtest window is September 28, 2026, at 14:00 UTC to October 11, 2026, at 10:00 UTC. Because the listing currently presents “Request Access” and says players will be notified when the developer is ready for more participants, requesting access should not be treated as a guarantee of immediate entry.

The announcement also directs players to the game’s official Discord for updates, support, and discussion. The developer frames the test around the principle, “Only what you extract is truly yours.”

What the playtest includes

Nova Era: Atom is described on Steam as a third-person spaceship shooter built on an MMORPG framework. The current listing says matchmaking is single-player for search, combat, and extraction missions, alongside world exploration. That description does not establish large-scale multiplayer matchmaking for every activity in the playtest.

  • Four classes and talent-based build choices.
  • Large-scale world exploration, with resources to find and contracts to pursue.
  • Extraction gates and results, which were also part of a subsequent maintenance update.

The developer says more content will be added as development progresses. The Steam listing names Amazing Game as developer and Hype Kid as publisher. It lists English and Simplified Chinese interface languages, full audio, and subtitles. Steam also flags in-game purchases, in-game chat, and online interactivity; the listing does not state purchase prices or explain what items might be sold.

Nova Era: Atom PC requirements

The official Steam listing and the September 28 developer announcement do not match on the minimum GPU, so the distinction matters. The announcement gives clearer GPU details and is dated; Steam’s requirements block displays a GPU string that appears malformed.

Specification Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 10 21H2 (Steam listing) Not stated in the announcement
Processor AMD 5600G (Steam listing) Intel Core i7-11700 or better (September 28 announcement); Steam lists Intel 11700
Memory 8 GB RAM (Steam listing) 16 GB RAM or more (September 28 announcement)
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, DirectX 12, at least 6 GB VRAM (September 28 announcement). Steam instead displays “NVIDIA GeForce GTX2026.” NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 or better, DirectX 12, 8 GB VRAM (September 28 announcement). Steam lists “NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3090.”
Storage and installation 80 GB free space; SSD installation required (Steam listing) Not stated as a separate recommendation
Network Broadband internet (Steam listing) Stable broadband recommended by the developer (September 28 announcement)

The developer also warns that displays above 4K may cause frame-rate drops. The GPU wording on Steam conflicts with the dated announcement’s RTX specifications; check the official listing and announcement for updates before installing, rather than assuming the malformed store text is the intended model.

What changed during the test

A September 29 maintenance note for build Rel_0.2.0 says the developer updated extraction gates and results, quest waypoints and flows, ship cores and component replacement, item transfers and storage, star-map markers, audio transitions, localization, environment art, and network stability. This shows that the build is being revised during the playtest; a listed improvement is not a guarantee that every related bug or performance issue has been resolved.

A separate June 22 developer post discussed future ship-control and UI iteration and a future energy-damage ship class. Those were described as planned work, not confirmed features of the September playtest.

Should you try it?

The test is a fit if you can obtain Steam access, have a PC near the stated requirements, and want to evaluate a spaceship extraction loop with exploration, scavenging, combat, loadout components, chips, classes, and talent builds. The announced test ends October 11, 2026, at 10:00 UTC, so check Steam for the current access status and the developer’s news for any schedule or build updates.
