There is no universal winner: “Nokia phone” could mean a feature phone, an older Nokia Android handset, or a current HMD smartphone, while Samsung Galaxy spans several price tiers and form factors. Compare exact models sold in your country and at similar prices. If you want a current flagship, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 family is one clearly defined option; an HMD or Nokia alternative needs to be matched model by model.
Which Nokia phone should you compare with a Samsung Galaxy?
Start by identifying the handset, not just the brand. HMD’s current smartphone catalogue foregrounds HMD-branded devices and directs people looking for Nokia devices to a separate Nokia phone-support area. HMD also notes that availability varies by country. Check HMD’s smartphone catalogue and Nokia phone support for the products and support information relevant to your market.
Samsung’s Galaxy name covers entry-level, midrange, foldable and flagship phones. The Galaxy S26 family is a flagship comparison point, not a stand-in for every Galaxy. Samsung says it launched in March 2026, runs Android 16 with One UI 8.5, and comes in three screen sizes:
- Galaxy S26: 6.3 inches.
- Galaxy S26+: 6.7 inches.
- Galaxy S26 Ultra: 6.9 inches.
Those are Samsung-reported specifications in its 2026 first-quarter interim report. They help identify the Galaxy option, but do not make it a fair price comparison with a lower-cost HMD phone or a Nokia feature phone.

How to compare the phones fairly
- Choose your country and budget. Look for models actually sold where you live, then compare current local prices and the same storage configuration. HMD says its availability varies by country; live prices and stock are not established here.
- Match the product category. Compare a smartphone with a smartphone at a similar price. If you want a feature phone, compare its calls, messaging and other specific functions with your needs rather than treating it as a direct Galaxy smartphone rival.
- Check the support promise for each exact model. Note the number of OS upgrades and security-update period, and distinguish a published commitment from the timing of updates arriving on your device.
- Compare the features you will use. Consider screen size, camera needs, battery expectations, durability, repair access and preferred software. Use matched model reviews or tests for performance-based questions.
- Verify local service and repair options. Check the warranty, authorised service, parts and repair costs for each handset in your area instead of inferring them from a brand’s general claims.
Does a Nokia phone get Android updates for as long as a Galaxy?
There is no single answer for all Nokia or HMD phones. Samsung says the Galaxy S26 family receives seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch. That is a specific commitment for the S26 family, not every Galaxy model. See Samsung’s 2026 interim report.
HMD says security-patch timing can depend on the device model, region, location, operator approvals and when Google releases a patch. Its security information was updated September 29, 2026. Check HMD’s security updates page for the exact device and relevant details. A commitment’s duration and the timing of individual updates are different questions.

HMD’s security page also says it identified and resolved a cloud infrastructure misconfiguration affecting data associated with its FOTA service on August 28, 2026. HMD’s account does not establish that unauthorised access occurred. This incident does not, by itself, determine which phone is more secure; compare each model’s update commitment and the security support available in your region.
Which is better for camera, battery, speed or durability?
The available model information does not establish a Nokia/HMD-versus-Galaxy winner for camera quality, battery life, speed or durability. Those results depend on the specific models and, for battery and camera comparisons, on how they are tested. Look for reviews or controlled tests that compare the exact handsets you are considering under comparable conditions; do not assume a flagship Galaxy and a differently priced HMD model are equivalents.

What do repair claims and regional guarantees mean?
Repairability and service access are model- and location-specific. Samsung reports that its Self-Repair programme began in the US in 2022 and has expanded. HMD markets its Fusion with the tagline “Restyle. Revamp. Repair.” Neither statement establishes that a particular part is available, a repair is affordable, or service is accessible where you live. Before buying, check local warranty terms, authorised repair options, parts and costs.
Regional terms can differ. For example, HMD’s India catalogue lists Vibe 5G, Crest 5G, Crest Max 5G, Fusion 5G and Skyline, and describes a one-year repair/replacement guarantee for the listed 5G smartphones. Which phone is the better buy for your budget?
Choose the Galaxy S26 family if you specifically want a current flagship, value its stated seven-generation OS-upgrade and seven-year security-update commitment, and can find the model at a price and availability that suit you. Pick an HMD or Nokia option only after confirming the exact model’s local price, availability, support terms and features. Without your country, budget and preferred features, a brand-level verdict would be misleading.
