Newegg’s current pages describe a configuration tool and general terms for customized systems, but they do not confirm that this particular $99, customer-selected-parts service remains available.
What Newegg’s $99 service offered in 2021
On July 7, 2021, HotHardware reported that Newegg had announced a beta build-to-order service. Customers selected components using Newegg’s PC Builder, and Newegg’s in-house ENIAC operation assembled and delivered the computer. The service was positioned as an option for people who wanted to design a PC but preferred not to build it themselves. Read HotHardware’s July 7, 2021 report.
The report described a beta-era component selection limited to products shipped from Newegg’s California warehouse. It counted 15 types of CPU and 24 GPUs in the available supply at launch. Those details describe the 2021 beta, not current inventory, selection limits, or policy.
HotHardware attributed this explanation of the service to Vishal Mane, Newegg’s Director of Engineering: “Not everyone who designs their own computer wants to build it themselves. For some it’s a matter of convenience.”

Is Newegg’s $99 PC assembly service available now?
Current information reviewed for this article does not establish that the 2021 beta—or its $99 price—is still available. Newegg’s Custom PC Builder currently describes a tool for configuring a PC from components offered on Newegg. The builder page does not confirm the historical $99 service, its price, or whether Newegg will assemble a build from customer-owned or third-party parts. Check Newegg’s current listing and terms before placing an order.
What Newegg currently says about custom systems
Newegg’s general customized-system terms say selected components are assembled and tested by trained staff. Assembly time varies by system, and the applicable time is listed on the item page. These terms concern customized systems generally; they do not establish every condition of the specific 2021 beta.

The same terms say an order must be paid in full before building starts and cannot be changed or canceled once charged. For any current custom-system order, review its item page and applicable terms before paying, especially if you may need to alter the component selection.
Check compatibility before choosing components
Newegg’s builder cautions that actual compatibility can vary. It does not warrant or guarantee that a configuration will work, and it does not replace compatibility information from manufacturers. Before ordering, check the exact parts against the relevant manufacturers’ specifications—for example, the motherboard’s supported processor and memory, case clearances, power-supply requirements, and any required connectors.
