New Potato’s TuneLink Auto is a 12V-powered Bluetooth adapter for sending phone audio to a car stereo, either over FM or through a wired AUX input. For FM playback, you select a frequency in the TuneLink app and tune the car radio to the same station. The manufacturer’s documentation is historical, however, and does not establish whether the adapter, app, or current-phone support is available today.
What TuneLink Auto does
TuneLink Auto is an adapter, not a replacement stereo. New Potato describes model SKU 1201-TLAUV1 as connecting a mobile device wirelessly over Bluetooth and routing its audio to a vehicle sound system. It plugs into a 12V accessory outlet and has a USB charging port, according to the manufacturer’s product page.
The documented Bluetooth audio requirement is A2DP, the stereo-audio profile. That is a historical compatibility statement, not confirmation that TuneLink Auto works with current phones, operating systems, or app-store versions. The manufacturer’s FAQ and product page do not establish present-day app support or product availability.
Choose between FM and AUX

Both routes are documented by New Potato’s product page and FAQ. For an older car, FM can be useful when there is no AUX jack; if the stereo has AUX, the direct connection avoids relying on an open broadcast frequency.

How to connect it for FM playback
- Plug TuneLink Auto into the vehicle’s 12V accessory outlet.
- Pair your phone or other Bluetooth audio device with the adapter. The manufacturer specifies A2DP support for stereo audio.
- Use the TuneLink app to select an available FM frequency, as described in the manufacturer’s FAQ.
- Tune the car radio to that same frequency and play audio from the connected device.
If you use the AUX route instead, connect the adapter to the car stereo’s compatible auxiliary input and select AUX on the stereo. The available documentation does not establish current app-store availability, so the FM setup instructions should not be taken as proof that the app can still be installed or used.
What to expect from audio, charging, and calls
FM sound depends on reception
The manufacturer markets the FM mode and describes app-based station selection, including GPS-based suggestions. Its promotional sound-quality claims are not independent measurements. In practical terms, FM playback depends on finding a frequency the car radio can receive clearly; AUX avoids that particular dependency when the car has the input.

USB charging is listed, but a charging rate is not established here
New Potato lists an integrated USB charging port for TuneLink Auto. Do not assume a 2.1-amp output: that figure appears in information for the related TuneLink Elements product, not in a model-specific TuneLink Auto source.
It is not a hands-free calling system
New Potato’s FAQ says TuneLink Auto itself is not a hands-free calling solution. If hands-free calls are a requirement, confirm that the car or another device provides that function rather than assuming this adapter does.

Will TuneLink Auto work with Android or a current phone?
The manufacturer’s FAQ says devices need A2DP for Bluetooth stereo audio, but that historical requirement alone cannot confirm compatibility with a particular modern Android phone, iPhone, operating-system version, or app release. The available manufacturer pages do not establish whether the legacy app is still supported. Verify that the adapter and any required app can be obtained and run with your specific device before relying on it.

- Whether the car has a working 12V accessory outlet.
- Whether you will use FM or AUX, and whether the car has the corresponding radio or auxiliary input.
- For FM, whether you can select and receive a clear frequency in your area.
- Whether your phone supports A2DP and whether the required app is currently available and compatible.
- Whether you need hands-free calling, which the manufacturer says TuneLink Auto does not provide.
- Whether a current unit is available and in what condition; the historical documentation does not verify current stock, pricing, warranty, or support.
The manufacturer also provides a TuneLink Auto user guide. Its historical documentation describes the intended setup and features, but does not establish present-day service or availability.
