She succeeded Paul Flanagan, who retired from the CEO role after eight years and continued at Nasuni as non-executive chairman.
What changed at Nasuni
| Executive | Role in the transition | Relevant background |
|---|---|---|
| Sam King | Chief executive officer from April 1, 2025 | Led Veracode from 2019 through 2024; joined Veracode in 2006 |
| Paul Flanagan | Stepped down as CEO and remained non-executive chairman | Served as Nasuni CEO for eight years |
The change is a planned leadership succession rather than a departure from Nasuni. Flanagan said he was “thrilled to welcome Sam” and described the company as entering its next phase of innovation and growth.
Who is Sam King?
King spent most of her career at Veracode, joining the application-security company in 2006 and serving as CEO from 2019 to 2024. Nasuni credits her with helping scale Veracode into a category-leading platform. Flanagan said she led the evolution from Veracode’s flagship security-testing product into a broader, AI-driven application-security platform through acquisitions and internal innovation.
Nasuni also says King’s Veracode tenure included several hundred million dollars in revenue. That figure is a company-attributed description of her tenure, not a separately reported annual result.

Why Nasuni chose a Veracode veteran
Experience scaling a security-sensitive platform
Nasuni sells infrastructure for enterprise unstructured data, where security, availability and performance are central buying criteria. King’s experience expanding an application-security business gives her a record in a market where trust and technical risk directly affect enterprise decisions.
Operating experience beyond a single product
Nasuni’s description of King emphasizes product expansion, strategic mergers and acquisitions, and organic innovation. That combination is relevant as the company broadens its hybrid-cloud data-management platform rather than competing only on storage capacity.
Nasuni’s position at the handoff
Flanagan wrote that Nasuni had grown more than 15 times to nearly 1,000 customers, was profitable and employed nearly 600 people. He also cited a $1.2 billion valuation from a 2024 majority investment by Vista Equity Partners, KKR and TCV. These are company figures attributed to Flanagan in 2025.
Nasuni describes its offering as a unified file-data platform that combines storage and data services in a hybrid-cloud architecture for enterprise unstructured data. Its customers include organizations in manufacturing, media and advertising, construction, consumer brands and energy, with services delivered in more than 70 countries.
What King says about AI, cloud migration and distributed work
King framed her mandate around what she called enterprises’ “triple challenge” of AI adoption, accelerated cloud migration and support for distributed workforces. In that view, Nasuni’s role is to act as a trusted data custodian that provides secure, high-performance access to information across locations and environments.
Her other stated priority is a data strategy that enables seamless collaboration without weakening security or performance. The statements establish the strategic direction, but they do not announce a specific AI product, migration timetable or spending target.

What has happened since the appointment
Nasuni’s current leadership biography says King has overseen two strategic acquisitions, a rebrand and global operating expansion since becoming CEO. Those actions indicate that the company is using the leadership change to extend its market and operating footprint, not simply to maintain the previous plan.
Implications for solution providers
CRN reported that the CEO appointment coincided with a revamped Nasuni partner program aimed at solution providers pursuing hybrid-cloud data-management opportunities. That creates a potential channel opportunity around file-data modernization, cloud migration and distributed access.

The Bottom Line
Sam King’s appointment gives Nasuni a CEO with experience scaling a security-focused software platform through product expansion, acquisitions and international growth. She takes over a profitable, nearly 1,000-customer company as it positions hybrid-cloud file data for AI adoption, cloud migration and distributed work.
