MSI’s Project Zero motherboards hide many connectors on the back of the board, not the cables themselves. The design can make a PC’s visible interior cleaner, but it requires a compatible case with rear-side openings and enough clearance. Reported examples span AMD AM5, Intel LGA1700 and Intel Z890 boards; the available reporting does not establish a complete current lineup for every next-generation Intel and AMD platform.
What MSI means by “hidden-cable” motherboards
Project Zero is MSI’s back-connect motherboard design. Instead of placing many power, fan and other connectors along the front-facing edges of the PCB, it places them on the rear. Builders still use cables; the change is where those cables plug in and how they are routed.
The practical result is fewer visible cable runs inside the case. Project Zero does not, on the evidence available, establish a measurable improvement in airflow or PC performance, and no such performance gain should be assumed from a cleaner-looking build.

These reports are examples, not a verified catalogue of all currently available Project Zero boards. They do not confirm that MSI offers equivalent back-connect choices for every new Intel or AMD platform. For a current purchase, check the exact board’s product page and support documentation for its socket, CPU support, dimensions and connector layout.

Check case compatibility before choosing a board
A back-connect board needs a chassis designed to let builders reach and route cables behind the motherboard tray. A case that fits the board’s form factor may still lack the right cutouts or clearance for its rear connectors. Compatibility is therefore about more than whether a motherboard physically fits.
Before buying, verify these details for the exact motherboard and case models:

- CPU platform: Confirm the board’s socket and supported processors match the CPU you plan to use.
- Form factor: Check that the case supports the board’s size.
- Rear access: Look for openings aligned with the board’s rear-facing power and other headers.
- Clearance: Confirm there is room behind the tray to plug in, bend and route cables once the side panel is installed.
- Build-specific connections: Make sure the case exposes the particular connectors your build needs, including any relevant front-panel, fan or storage connections.
There is no universal compatibility list established by the cited reporting. An August 2026 iTechGuides article also highlights chassis cutouts and cable clearance as important considerations, but its broader lineup claims should not substitute for checking the exact SKUs. MSI also uses cable-concealment language for products outside its motherboard range. In an official August 1, 2025 announcement, MSI said the MPG CORELIQUID P13 hides cables and tubing using its Streamline design. What to confirm before ordering
- Identify the exact Project Zero motherboard model and verify its CPU socket and processor support on MSI’s product or support documentation.
- Find the exact case model and confirm its maker explicitly supports that motherboard’s back-connect layout, not just its form factor.
- Check the case’s rear-tray openings and available clearance against the board’s connector positions and your planned cables.
- Confirm the specific board and case are actually available in your region; model reporting alone does not establish present inventory or price.
