The Rockstar sequel drawing attention is L.A. Noire 2—but it is a fan wishlist, not an announced game or a confirmed development project. The idea comes from a Gfinity article proposing what Rockstar could do next, not from evidence that the studio is making a sequel.
What is the Rockstar sequel rumor?
The rumor concerns a possible sequel to L.A. Noire, not a newly announced Grand Theft Auto project. Gfinity’s article, “The Detective We Need: Why L.A. Noire 2 Should Be Rockstar’s Next Big Priority,” was listed as published February 4, 2026, and updated April 14, 2026. Its search-result description labels the idea a “Fan Proposal / Wishlist” and explicitly says L.A. Noire 2 is not confirmed. Gfinity article listing

What does the wishlist imagine?
The article pitches a sequel to the original L.A. Noire, which it describes as a 2011 classic. Its proposed ingredients are creative suggestions, not verified specifications for a game in development.
- A new lead: The wishlist imagines a different protagonist from the original game’s detective, but does not establish a character Rockstar has created.
- A new setting: It suggests moving the story to a different location; no setting has been confirmed for a sequel.
- More nuanced facial technology: This is a hoped-for improvement, not a feature announcement or technical detail from Rockstar.
Has Rockstar confirmed L.A. Noire 2?
No confirmation appears in the accessible material. Rockstar’s official L.A. Noire page was checked for context, but it returned no readable text and provides no usable sequel confirmation here. Rockstar’s official L.A. Noire page The available evidence therefore supports describing L.A. Noire 2 as a fan proposal—not an announcement, leak, or report of active development.
