The biggest confirmed difference is how you can play: the Switch 2 edition supports handheld and TV play, while PS5 and Xbox Series X offer more listed frame-rate targets. Capcom lists the Switch 2 at 30 fps in every announced mode; PS5 and Xbox Series X list 30, 40, and 60 fps modes. Switch 2 also adds Nintendo-confirmed local multiplayer. The edition is scheduled for December 4, 2026, so its real-world image quality and performance cannot yet be compared with the already released console versions.

These are published targets and output resolutions, not hands-on results. Capcom says rendering resolution can vary with system load, upscaling is used when rendering resolution falls below the listed output resolution, and frame rate can drop in high-load situations. The figures therefore do not establish native resolution, equivalent graphics settings, image quality, or stable performance on one console versus another. How do the performance modes differ?
Switch 2: portable play, 30 fps targets
The announced Switch 2 options distinguish TV play that prioritizes resolution from TV play that prioritizes frame rate, alongside handheld mode. Capcom lists a 30 fps target for all of them. The published output figures are 2240×1260 in TV resolution mode, 1920×1080 in TV frame-rate mode, and 1536×864 in handheld mode. They are output targets, not proof of the resolution the game renders internally at every moment.
PS5 and Xbox Series X: three frame-rate targets
Both consoles list Prioritize Resolution, Balanced, and Prioritize Frame Rate modes, with targets of 30, 40, and 60 fps. Capcom community manager Joseph Bustos says the PS5 Balanced mode is intended for a compatible 120 Hz display. That clarification applies to PS5; the cited material does not establish the same display requirement for Xbox. Capcom’s PS5 mode explanation, published via PlayStation Blog

Which version should you choose?
- Choose Switch 2 if handheld play or Nintendo local multiplayer is the deciding feature. Its announced modes target 30 fps, and the edition is not scheduled to launch until December 4, 2026.
- Choose PS5 or Xbox Series X if you want a listed 40 or 60 fps mode now. Capcom lists those targets for both consoles, as well as a 30 fps mode.
- Do not choose based on the resolution figures alone. The figures are output resolutions, not a like-for-like measure of rendering quality, and performance can vary with system load.
- If you want to play with friends on another platform, Capcom confirms cross-play. If you need to move a save or purchases between platforms, the cited official information does not confirm that capability.
