When does Modern Warfare 4 launch?
The worldwide launch date is October 23, 2026. Activision lists Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC through Battle.net, Xbox on PC and Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2 among the release platforms. Platform and edition availability can differ, so check the listing for the platform you plan to use.
Campaign Early Access begins one week earlier, on Friday, October 16, for eligible digital purchases. Activision cautions that outages and time-zone differences can affect when players are able to start, and that availability or dates may change. How do I get Campaign Early Access?
Digitally pre-order or pre-purchase either the Standard Digital Edition or the Vault Edition. Both qualify; Vault is not required for early Campaign access. Activision’s edition and pre-order information describes the Vault Edition as adding premium content, but the Standard Digital Edition also meets the early-access condition.

- Choose a digital edition. Select Standard Digital or Vault for your intended platform.
- Complete the pre-order or pre-purchase. The offer is tied to the digital purchase, not simply to owning a copy.
- Plan for October 16. Early access begins that Friday, but the precise time you can play may be affected by time zones or service outages.
Does a physical pre-order include early campaign access?
Do not count on it. Activision lists a console Physical Standard Edition, but describes Campaign Early Access as a benefit for digital pre-orders or pre-purchases. The reviewed offer does not establish early access for a physical-edition purchase. If playing the Campaign early is important, choose an eligible digital edition and confirm the terms on the platform store before buying.

How do I unlock Gilded Ruin?
Activision documents a cross-mode challenge in Black Ops 7 or Warzone: earn 5,000 Skulls to unlock the Gilded Ruin Universal Weapon Camo. The publisher says both Gilded Ruin and Moonlit Pearl unlock in Modern Warfare 4 at launch. The reward is therefore a documented route to a camo that carries into MW4, not proof of how to earn an MW4 Mastery Camo.

These rates show the stated value of each qualifying elimination; they do not establish how long the challenge will take for an individual player. The support article also describes a uniquely serialized Gilded Ruin version for the first 100,000 players to unlock it. That limited allocation is distinct from the general 5,000-Skull camo reward, and its availability should not be assumed to remain open.
Is Gilded Ruin the first Modern Warfare 4 Mastery Camo?
That has not been established by the official material reviewed. Activision calls Moonlit Pearl and Gilded Ruin universal weapon camos and says they unlock in MW4 at launch; it does not call either one an MW4 Mastery Camo. The official sources also do not publish the challenge requirements or progression sequence for MW4’s first Mastery Camo. Until those details are announced, there is no verified MW4 Mastery Camo route to follow.

Are the Modern Warfare 4 beta dates still upcoming?
No. The announced Early Access Beta ran August 21–25, 2026, followed by the open weekend from August 28 through September 1. Those dates had passed by October 3, 2026, so the beta is background rather than a remaining step in this launch plan. Activision’s beta announcement lists the schedule.
What to check before buying
- Confirm the store listing is for a digital Standard or Vault Edition if Campaign Early Access is your reason for pre-ordering.
- Check the platform-specific listing for edition availability and purchase terms.
- Use October 16 as the stated Campaign Early Access start date and October 23 as the worldwide launch date; allow for time-zone differences or service interruptions.
- Treat the Skull challenge as a route to Gilded Ruin, not as a confirmed MW4 Mastery Camo unlock guide.
