For most players, MLB The Show 26 Standard Edition is the best buy: it gives you the game without charging extra for packs, Stubs, and cosmetics you may not use. Choose Digital Deluxe if you play Diamond Dynasty and the included items are worth the price difference in your platform’s store. Its launch-era early access has ended, so it is no longer a reason to pay more.
Standard vs. Digital Deluxe: What do you get?
The two principal editions identified in official support are Standard and Digital Deluxe. Their practical difference is the bundle of extras included with Digital Deluxe; the game itself is the common purchase.

Is Digital Deluxe worth the extra cost?
Decide based on the current price gap and whether you will use the extras. Digital Deluxe is easier to justify if Diamond Dynasty is a major part of how you play and you value its packs and Stubs. If you mainly want other game modes, or would rather avoid paying for digital bonus items, Standard is the more straightforward choice.
- Check the live price for both editions in your platform’s store; sale prices can vary by storefront and change over time.
- Ask whether the Diamond Dynasty items and daily rewards matter to you. If not, do not treat their listed quantity as automatic value.
- Consider whether you want the included cosmetics; they are part of the bundle, not a reason everyone needs to upgrade.

Does early access make Digital Deluxe worthwhile now?
No. The early-access window was a launch benefit, and those dates have passed. San Diego Studio’s launch post said access began March 12, 2026, at 9 p.m. PT (March 13 UTC), while Standard launch began March 16 at 9 p.m. PT (March 17 UTC). Which platforms can you buy MLB The Show 26 for?
The game launched March 17, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. It is not available for PS4 according to the official FAQ, and the reviewed official platform pages do not list a PC release. Nintendo lists the Switch version as supported on Switch 2, with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch; that is compatibility, not a separate Switch 2 edition claim. Nintendo also cautions that compatibility and play experience may differ on Switch Lite and additional accessories may be required. What should you know about cross-play and online costs?
PlayStation Support says all supported consoles support cross-play. The Xbox product page also lists cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform co-op. Cross-play does not mean every online mode is free of a platform subscription requirement.
The official game manual says Diamond Dynasty sub-modes require an internet connection. Co-Op, Ranked, Events, Weekend Classic, and Battle Royale also require internet and the applicable platform subscription:

Quick buying decision
- Choose your platform first. Buy for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch; do not buy expecting a PS4 or PC version.
- Check the live edition prices. Compare Standard and Digital Deluxe in that platform’s store, since promotions and regional prices can differ.
- Choose Standard by default. It suits players who want the game without paying extra for packs, Stubs, and cosmetics.
- Upgrade only for extras you value. Digital Deluxe is a better fit when you expect to use its Diamond Dynasty items and judge them worth the price difference.
- Account for online play. If you plan to play the specified online modes, factor in internet access and the platform subscription they require.
