Mine announced a $30 million Series B on December 5, 2023, led by Battery Ventures. The company said it would use the funding to scale MineOS, its enterprise platform for discovering and managing data across cloud and on-premise environments. Mine also operates SayMine, a consumer app for seeing and reclaiming personal data.

What is Mine’s $30 million Series B?

Mine, an Israeli data-privacy startup with operations in Tel Aviv and Boston, announced the financing on December 5, 2023. Battery Ventures led the round, which brought the company’s reported fundraising total to more than $43 million since its launch in January 2020. SecurityWeek reported the funding and company details.

What does MineOS do?

Mine describes MineOS as an enterprise-grade platform for data lifecycle management. SecurityWeek’s account says it combines continuous scanning and artificial intelligence to help businesses discover, inventory, and classify data. The platform is described as covering both structured and unstructured data in cloud and on-premise environments.

That discovery and inventory function is intended to support a range of privacy and security work, rather than only a single compliance task. The reported workflows include:

  • Privacy and compliance requirements
  • Cybersecurity tasks involving organizational data

Mine’s positioning, quoted by SecurityWeek, calls MineOS “the singular source of truth for Data Lifecycle Management.”

Who invested in Mine?

Battery Ventures led the Series B. The other participating investors named in SecurityWeek’s report were:

  • PayPal Ventures
  • Nationwide Ventures
  • Saban Ventures
  • Gradient Ventures, described in the report as Google’s AI investment arm
  • MassMutual Ventures
  • Headline Ventures

How does Mine help companies manage data privacy?

The reported approach starts with continuously locating and classifying data across an organization’s cloud and on-premise environments. A current inventory can help privacy and security teams understand what data they hold and connect that information to risk assessments, compliance obligations, and security workflows. The report describes these product capabilities, but does not provide independent performance measurements or customer results.

What is SayMine?

SayMine is Mine’s consumer-focused app. It gives individuals tools to reclaim their data and see more of their digital footprint, while MineOS is aimed at enterprise privacy and security teams. The two products address data privacy from different sides: personal control for individuals and organizational data management for businesses.
