Neither Midea nor Frigidaire is a proven brand-wide winner. For a room that needs a 50-pint dehumidifier, compare the exact model’s drainage setup and controls: Midea’s MAD50PS1QWT-A Cube has a built-in pump and app and voice control, while Frigidaire’s FHDD5034Y1 offers Wi-Fi and continuous drainage but no built-in pump listed. Frigidaire’s separate FHDP5033Y1 is the pump-equipped option. The right choice depends on your moisture needs and where the water can drain—not the badge on the appliance.
Which model fits your room and drainage setup?
These are feature comparisons based on manufacturer listings, not independent head-to-head tests. Start with where the unit will sit and where its water must go.
| Model | Capacity and coverage | Drainage | Connected controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Midea MAD50PS1QWT-A Cube | 50 pints per day; manufacturer says up to 4,500 sq. ft. | Built-in pump for sending water out to a window or sink | SmartHome app and voice-assistant control |

Choose a pump when the drain is uphill
A built-in pump is useful when the water must travel upward, such as to a sink or window. The Midea Cube and Frigidaire FHDP5033Y1 list pumps. The Frigidaire FHDD5034Y1 lists continuous drainage, so check whether your planned hose route can drain by gravity to a suitable lower drain. Confirm the precise model number and hose compatibility before buying.

Treat coverage claims as a starting point
Midea lists the MAD50PS1QWT-A for spaces up to 4,500 sq. ft.; that is a manufacturer coverage claim, not a guarantee that it is correctly sized for every 4,500-square-foot home. Room size matters, but so do the source and severity of moisture. The reviewed Frigidaire page does not establish a directly comparable coverage-area figure, so the available information does not support a coverage-number winner.
What smart controls and efficiency tell you
Both the Midea MAD50PS1QWT-A and Frigidaire FHDD5034Y1 list app and voice-connected features. Midea names its SmartHome app and voice-assistant control; Frigidaire lists Wi-Fi/app, Alexa, and Google Home controls. Those feature lists establish connectivity, not which app is easier to use or more reliable.

Efficiency is also model-specific. ENERGY STAR says certified dehumidifiers are 20% more efficient than non-certified models, and its current dehumidifier specification took effect October 1, 2025. The available product information does not establish current ENERGY STAR certification for both exact models. Check each complete model number in the ENERGY STAR product list before treating either as certified or comparing its efficiency.
Set up a dehumidifier safely and effectively
ENERGY STAR describes 30%–50% relative humidity (RH) as the generally optimum range for buildings. A room hygrometer can help you check conditions if the unit does not show RH.

The Midea US product page shows a one-year warranty field, and Frigidaire lists a one-year manufacturer warranty for the FHDD5034Y1. Review the exact warranty terms and exclusions for the model you intend to buy: the listed period alone does not describe every coverage condition.

The product listings do not establish which of these models runs quieter, removes moisture faster in real rooms, or lasts longer. No controlled side-by-side performance or long-term reliability comparison is available here, so those are not sound grounds for declaring a winner.

How to make the choice
- Map the drain route. If water has to go upward, compare the Midea MAD50PS1QWT-A with the Frigidaire FHDP5033Y1; if it can flow down to a suitable drain, the FHDD5034Y1’s continuous-drain capability may fit.
- Check the room and moisture conditions. Use the models’ capacity and any manufacturer coverage claim as sizing inputs, not as a promise for every home.
- Choose controls you will use. Both brands list connected features on the cited 50-pint options; the listings do not establish app-quality differences.
- Verify exact-model details. Check the live ENERGY STAR directory, warranty terms, and hose compatibility for the model number on the product you plan to purchase.
