Microsoft’s March 31, 2025 rollout moved several Copilot+ experiences that first appeared on Snapdragon X systems to qualifying PCs powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra 200V processors. Live Captions translation, Cocreator in Paint, Restyle Image and Image Creator are now part of the cross-platform Copilot+ feature set. Recall, Click to Do, improved Windows Search and Windows Studio Effects are also listed across the three processor families, but availability still depends on the specific laptop, Windows updates, market and— for some tools—preview status.
What changed on March 31, 2025
Microsoft announced that Live Captions, Cocreator, Restyle Image and Image Creator would be available across Copilot+ PCs using Qualcomm Snapdragon X, AMD Ryzen AI 300 series and Intel Core Ultra 200V processors. These experiences had initially been associated with Snapdragon X Copilot+ laptops.
The announcement established feature parity at the platform level, not an identical experience on every model. Microsoft’s feature documentation repeatedly says that Copilot+ experiences vary by device and market and may require Windows updates. A laptop carrying the Copilot+ label therefore confirms qualifying AI hardware, but not that every feature is enabled in every country on the day you buy it.
Which Copilot+ features work beyond Snapdragon?
| Feature | What it does | AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra 200V status | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Live Captions with translation | Transcribes speech and translates it in real time. | Included in Microsoft’s cross-platform expansion. | Microsoft describes translation from more than 40 languages into English. Current business documentation also lists simplified Chinese support. Language availability can vary by Windows build and region. |
| Cocreator in Paint | Uses a text prompt and your drawing input to generate or refine an image. | Announced for AMD- and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs. | Requires a qualifying Copilot+ system and the relevant Windows and Paint updates. |
| Restyle Image in Photos | Applies an AI-generated visual style to an image. | Included in the March 31, 2025 expansion. | Photos features can depend on app version, device and market. |
| Image Creator in Photos | Creates images from a text description. | Included in the March 31, 2025 expansion. | Availability is not guaranteed solely by the processor name. |
| Recall | Searches snapshots of previous activity on the PC. | Microsoft lists Qualcomm, AMD and Intel Copilot+ PCs. | Still labeled a preview in current Microsoft documentation. Device, security and update requirements apply, and Arm64EC models are excluded from the listed Recall support. |
| Click to Do | Offers actions on text and images shown on screen or in Recall. | Image actions were reported broadly; text actions continued rolling to AMD and Intel after Snapdragon. | Microsoft reported general availability for the experience in April 2025, but individual actions can arrive at different times. |
| Improved Windows Search | Uses on-device AI to find content with more natural descriptions. | Listed for all three Copilot+ processor families. | Requires the applicable Windows update and can vary by market. |
| Windows Studio Effects | Provides AI-assisted camera and microphone effects. | Listed as a Copilot+ experience using the NPU. | Camera hardware and the installed Windows build affect which effects appear. |
| Settings agent | Helps locate and change Windows settings using natural-language requests. | Started on Snapdragon and Microsoft reported availability on Intel and AMD devices in August 2025. | Rollout timing and supported actions depend on Windows updates and device eligibility. |

What the processor families have in common
All three families can power a Copilot+ laptop when the complete system meets Microsoft’s requirements. Copilot+ is a system designation built around an NPU, rather than a guarantee attached to every chip bearing a particular brand name. Microsoft’s 2024 launch reference point was an NPU capable of more than 40 TOPS.

Is one processor the better choice?
There is no universal winner established by Microsoft’s feature rollout. Once a laptop qualifies as a Copilot+ PC and has the required Windows updates, the deciding factors are usually the individual computer’s software compatibility, battery design, cooling, screen, ports, memory, storage, warranty and price.
Choose Snapdragon X when
- You specifically want a Windows-on-Arm Copilot+ design and have confirmed that your required applications and peripherals support it.
- The model’s battery capacity, weight, connectivity and price suit your priorities better than the available AMD or Intel alternatives.
Choose AMD Ryzen AI 300 when
- You want an AMD Copilot+ laptop and prefer the configurations offered by a particular manufacturer, such as its display, memory or upgrade options.
- The retailer confirms the exact Windows version and Copilot+ qualification rather than relying only on a generic Ryzen AI label.
Choose Intel Core Ultra 200V when
- An Intel model provides the ports, business manageability, display or price you need.
- You have checked that the Windows update channel in your market includes the Click to Do actions or other features you plan to use.
Do not infer a battery-life or speed champion from the processor family alone. Microsoft’s rollout announcement establishes feature availability, not a controlled performance comparison between otherwise identical laptops.

How to verify a laptop before buying
- Confirm the exact processor: Look for Snapdragon X Series, AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series or Intel Core Ultra 200V Series. A different Ryzen, Core Ultra or Snapdragon generation may not be a Copilot+ configuration.
- Confirm the Copilot+ designation: Check the manufacturer’s specifications for an NPU-qualified Copilot+ PC, not merely an “AI PC” marketing label.
- Check Windows 11 and update status: Microsoft’s features can require a particular Windows release, cumulative update or app version. Install updates after setup and recheck the feature pages.
- Check your market: Microsoft says availability varies by region. A feature shown in a US product demonstration may not be enabled in your country.
- Check preview labels: Recall remains a preview in Microsoft’s documentation. Treat preview behavior, requirements and availability as subject to change.
- Verify the actions you need: For Click to Do, confirm whether the specific text or image actions you want are available on that processor and Windows build.
- Compare the complete laptop: Evaluate memory, storage, display, battery capacity, weight, ports, warranty and price alongside the processor.
What “exclusive” means now
“Exclusive” described the launch sequence: Snapdragon X systems received several Copilot+ experiences first. It no longer means that AMD and Intel PCs are permanently barred from those named features. Microsoft’s March 31, 2025 announcement changed that by extending the four headline experiences to all three Copilot+ processor families.
It also does not mean every Copilot+ feature arrives simultaneously. Recall has a preview designation, Click to Do actions have been staged, and the Settings agent reached AMD and Intel later than Snapdragon. Device eligibility, Windows servicing and regional policy remain part of the rollout.
