If mobile data stopped working after a reset, restore the APN on your Samsung Galaxy to its carrier-provisioned default: Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > More options > Reset to default > Reset. Restart the phone, turn Wi-Fi off, and test cellular data. Do not enter a generic MetroPCS APN profile unless Metro confirms the values for your exact device and SIM.
Reset the APN to the carrier default
An APN (Access Point Name) profile helps the phone connect to mobile data. Samsung warns that “Incorrect APN settings may prevent the device from connecting to the mobile network.” Its reset procedure restores the phone’s default APN profile; menu names can vary by model and software version. See Samsung’s APN troubleshooting steps.
- Check the SIM and mobile data. Make sure the SIM is active and mobile data is enabled. Samsung notes that Mobile networks may not be accessible without an active SIM or mobile connection.
- Open the APN list. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
- Restore the default. Tap the three-dot More options menu, select Reset to default, then confirm Reset.
- Restart and test. Restart the phone, switch Wi-Fi off, and try loading a webpage or app using cellular data.
If a label or menu is different on your Galaxy, check Samsung’s device-specific support guidance; its menus vary by model and software version. The Mobile networks menu may also be unavailable if the phone does not detect an active SIM.
Should you enter a MetroPCS APN manually?
Usually, do not replace the carrier-provisioned profile with APN values copied from an unofficial list. Metro’s support guidance covers general service troubleshooting but does not publish APN field values in the guidance available here. It therefore does not confirm one universal manual profile for all Metro Samsung phones.

T-Mobile’s separate BYOD instructions include the data APN fast.t-mobile.com for LTE devices and related data and MMS fields. That is T-Mobile BYOD guidance, not confirmation that those values are correct for every Metro subscriber, Samsung model, or SIM. Leave the defaults restored unless Metro supplies instructions for your exact phone and SIM.
If mobile data still does not work
After the APN reset and restart, check these service basics. Metro recommends restarting, using Auto network mode, and installing available software updates; if service remains unavailable, its guidance points customers to carrier support or a store.

- Confirm the phone has cellular service and the SIM and account are active.
- Set the network mode to Auto if that option is available under Settings > Connections > Mobile networks.
- Check for and install an available software update.
- If the APN menu is missing, or resetting the default does not restore data, contact Metro or visit a Metro store. Ask for instructions for your exact Samsung model and SIM rather than entering an unverified profile.
APN reset and mobile-network reset are different
The APN reset is inside Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names and restores APN defaults. Samsung’s separate mobile-network reset is under Settings > General management > Reset > Reset mobile network settings. It is a broader action, and network resets can affect other network settings; exact effects vary by device and software version. Use it only when appropriate for the problem, and consult Samsung’s reset guidance for your model.
