Its release also introduced preliminary ECC polling for selected AMD Ryzen CPUs. This is Memtest86+, not PassMark’s separate MemTest86 utility.
What Memtest86+ V7.00 added
The project archive dates Memtest86+ V7.00 to January 7, 2024, and lists “IMC polling for live RAM settings” among its changes: Memtest86+ archive. The release announcement describes the feature as polling the integrated memory controller to get live RAM settings on Intel Core 1st through 14th Generation and AMD Ryzen CPUs: Memtest86+ V7.00 release notes.
In practical terms, the feature is intended to show settings reported live by the memory controller, rather than merely presenting stored memory-module information. The release announcement does not publish a complete list of compatible motherboards, chipsets, or individual CPU models, so the listed processor families should not be read as a guarantee that every system will expose every setting.
How to view live RAM settings with Memtest86+ V7
Memtest86+ runs as bootable diagnostic software rather than as an ordinary Windows application. The project archive offers a Windows USB installer. A USB flash drive is an optional way to prepare boot media; the project does not state a minimum capacity, speed, or recommended brand.

- Boosts System Performance: 32GB DDR5 RAM laptop memory kit (2x16GB) that operates at 5600MHz, 5200MHz, or 4800MHz to improve multitasking and system responsiveness for smoother performance
- Accelerated gaming performance: Every millisecond gained in fast-paced gameplay counts—power through heavy workloads and benefit from versatile downclocking and higher frame rates
- Optimized DDR5 compatibility: Best for 12th Gen Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors — Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO also supported on the same RAM module
- Trusted Micron Quality: Backed by 42 years of memory expertise, this DDR5 RAM is rigorously tested at both component and module levels, ensuring top performance and reliability
- ECC Type = Non-ECC, Form Factor = SODIMM, Pin Count = 262-Pin, PC Speed = PC5-44800, Voltage = 1.1V, Rank And Configuration = 1Rx8
- Open the Memtest86+ archive and locate the V7.00 download and Windows USB installer.
- Use the installer to prepare a bootable USB drive, following the project’s included instructions. Preparing boot media can overwrite data on the selected drive, so use a drive whose contents you can erase.
- Restart the computer and select the USB drive as the boot device using the system’s boot menu or firmware settings.
- Run Memtest86+ V7.00 and inspect its displayed live DRAM settings. The release notes identify IMC polling as the feature that retrieves them; they do not document a universal menu path or guarantee that every field will appear on every configuration.
CPU and ECC support: what the release does and does not claim
| Capability | V7.00 release scope | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Live DRAM settings | Intel Core 1st–14th Generation and AMD Ryzen CPUs | Release notes do not list every compatible chipset or board. |
| ECC polling | Selected AMD Ryzen CPUs | Described by the project as preliminary; not universal ECC support. |
The project’s wording is deliberately limited: ECC polling is preliminary and applies to selected Ryzen CPUs. The release announcement does not name those models or quantify coverage, so do not assume that ECC status or error information will be available on every Ryzen system.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not confuse Memtest86+ with PassMark MemTest86
The similar names refer to two distinct projects. PassMark’s history page explains that MemTest86+ became a separate fork and that both projects continued development: PassMark project history.

- Capacity: 32GB (2 x 16GB) 6000MHz
- Tested Timings: 30-40-40-76
- Feature Overclock: XMP 3.0 / EXPO overclocking supported
- Compatibility: Tested across latest DDR5 platforms for reliability on high performance
- Limited lifetime warranty
This distinction matters when comparing reported memory information. PassMark says its own MemTest86 settings retrieval is limited to supported chipsets and that SMBIOS fallback values may be inaccurate: PassMark MemTest86 product information. Those specific limitations describe PassMark’s product, not Memtest86+. Conversely, Memtest86+ V7’s release notes do not provide a comprehensive chipset-compatibility matrix or a head-to-head test against PassMark, so neither product’s documented behavior should be transferred to the other.

What to expect when settings are missing
- Confirm the project and version. Check that you booted Memtest86+ V7.00; PassMark MemTest86 is a separate utility.
- Check the displayed result against your system. V7.00 adds IMC polling for the listed processor families, but the release notes do not promise complete reporting on every motherboard or chipset.
- Do not treat an absent ECC reading as proof that memory is non-ECC. The project describes V7 polling as preliminary and limited to selected AMD Ryzen CPUs.
