There is no verified, universal maximum safe overclock voltage for the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T, and the available sources do not establish an AMD-approved voltage ceiling for long-term overclocking. Historical review results of 1.45 V and 1.5 V describe specific processors and test systems—not safe settings for every 1090T.

What do the published overclocking results show?

These reviews tested different samples and systems, so their results are useful as examples, not as a direct comparison of which voltage is safer.

Source and result Voltage Cooling and stability reported
AnandTech, 2010: 4 GHz 1.45 V The review reported this result for its sample; it did not establish a long-term safe voltage.
AnandTech, 2010 follow-up: 4 GHz reliably; 4.1 GHz not reliably stable Not stated in the cited follow-up result AnandTech described 4 GHz as the highest frequency it could get reliably with air cooling. Its 4.1 GHz attempt was not considered stable.
bit-tech, 2010: 3.87 GHz stable 1.5 V Stable in its test setup. Its 4.11 GHz attempt crashed and was not recommended as an everyday setting.

The reviews report particular outcomes, not lifetime testing or a guarantee that another chip will behave the same way. A voltage number alone cannot rank these settings by safety: the conditions were not matched, and the reports do not quantify long-term degradation.

Why isn’t there one safe voltage number?

Overclocking results depend on the individual processor, motherboard, cooling, workload, and how stability is assessed. A setting that boots or completes a short test is not necessarily stable under sustained use. The cited reviews do not provide a universal target that accounts for those differences or establishes a safe operating life.

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.20 GHz Processor HDT90ZFBGRBOX
  • Multi-Core: Six-core
  • Operating Frequency: 3.2GHz/3.6GHz Turbo Core
  • Socket: AM3
  • L3 Cache: 6MB
  • Power: 125W

The 1090T is a Black Edition processor with an unlocked multiplier, which allows multiplier-based overclocking. That feature does not make higher voltage safe or guarantee a particular clock speed. AnandTech’s 2010 review documents the unlocked multiplier and its sample’s overclocking results.

What are the stock specifications—and what does TDP mean?

Tom’s Hardware’s 2010 review lists the 1090T at 3.2 GHz base clock, up to 3.6 GHz with Turbo CORE, and 125 W TDP. TDP describes a thermal-design specification; it is not a maximum voltage or an overclocking recommendation.

How should you use these results?

  • Do not treat 1.45 V or 1.5 V as a generally safe daily-use limit. They are reported review settings, not AMD-approved ceilings.
  • Do not assume a frequency reached by one review sample is guaranteed for your processor.
  • Distinguish a successful boot from sustained stability under the workloads you actually use.
  • Consult the AMD archived data sheet for documented processor information, but it does not establish a model-specific safe overclock voltage.
