No—not literally every Mass Effect DLC. Mass Effect Legendary Edition combines the three Shepard-trilogy games, their single-player expansions, and more than 40 DLC packs according to Electronic Arts. The important exceptions are the first game’s Pinnacle Station add-on and Mass Effect 3’s cooperative multiplayer (plus content that depended on that online mode). The major story expansions, DLC squadmates, promotional weapons and armor, and Mass Effect 3’s Extended Cut are included, so the collection contains the overwhelming majority of the trilogy’s single-player content.
Does Mass Effect Legendary Edition include every DLC?
No. EA describes the collection as the three games’ single-player content with “more than 40 DLC” packs, but that is a publisher-advertised collection count, not a promise that every historical download, mode, or add-on is present. The remaster was designed around the single-player trilogy. That means almost all story DLC is included, while Pinnacle Station and Mass Effect 3 cooperative multiplayer are not.
This distinction matters because “DLC” covers very different things in the original releases: campaign chapters, companion characters, cosmetic or equipment packs, challenge modes, and online-only features. Saying that Legendary Edition includes “all DLC” hides the two omissions that matter most to returning players.

EA’s launch statement is the best high-level description of the package: it calls out the trilogy’s single-player campaigns and more than 40 DLC packs. Read that wording literally. It does not say that every add-on ever released for every version of the games was remastered. EA’s launch announcement and the official Legendary Edition overview both frame the product around single-player content.

What Mass Effect 1 DLC is in Legendary Edition?
Bring Down the Sky is included. It adds a substantial optional mission involving a Batarian terrorist threat and can be played during the first game’s campaign. You do not need to purchase it separately when you own Legendary Edition.
The missing first-game add-on is Pinnacle Station. It is not a lost chapter of Shepard’s main story. The original expansion was a combat-training facility with 13 competitive combat scenarios, as described by Game Informer’s interview with project director Mac Walters. Its scenarios let players fight through timed or score-oriented challenges rather than follow a new narrative arc. You can complete the trilogy’s plot, recruit its important characters, and experience the major first-game decisions without it.
Is Pinnacle Station available as a separate Legendary Edition download?
No. There is no official Pinnacle Station add-on for the remastered collection. Walters said BioWare sought backup data from Demiurge Studios, the original add-on developer, but the available files were heavily corrupted. Rebuilding the expansion instead of remastering usable source data would have required substantial additional work. His explanation was a production constraint, not a claim that the content was deliberately withheld or that a particular license expired.
If you specifically want Pinnacle Station, you need an original release of Mass Effect that supports it. That is a different product from Legendary Edition and has the older game’s technical and platform considerations.
Which Mass Effect 2 DLC is included?
Legendary Edition includes the major Mass Effect 2 single-player additions and the DLC characters that many players consider essential to a complete playthrough. EA’s overview identifies content including the squadmates Zaeed and Kasumi, the missions Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Arrival, plus Firewalker and the Normandy Crash Site mission.
These are representative examples rather than an item-by-item inventory of every small download. The package also includes weapons and armor packs that were sold separately for the original game. Zaeed and Kasumi are available as part of the remastered game, so their loyalty missions and dialogue can be integrated into a normal campaign without entering old promotional codes.

Lair of the Shadow Broker and Arrival are especially important for players following the trilogy in order: one develops the Shadow Broker storyline and the other provides a bridge into the opening situation of Mass Effect 3. The collection’s inclusion of these expansions is why the remaster is generally considered complete for the Mass Effect 2 single-player experience.

The significant Mass Effect 3 story expansions are included. The package contains From Ashes, which adds Javik as a squadmate; Leviathan; Omega; and Citadel. It also includes the Extended Cut ending content. EA’s Legendary Edition materials and coverage of the collection identify these additions as part of the remastered single-player package.
The Extended Cut is not a separate purchase or optional patch you must find for Legendary Edition. It is part of the remastered game’s ending presentation. It expands the aftermath and adds context to the original finale, but it does not turn the ending into a different branching campaign.
As with Mass Effect 2, smaller weapons, armor, and promotional packs are represented in the collection. The practical result is that a player who buys Legendary Edition does not need to assemble a separate list of Mass Effect 3 story DLC before starting a trilogy playthrough.
Does Legendary Edition have Mass Effect 3 multiplayer?
No. Legendary Edition does not include the original Mass Effect 3 cooperative multiplayer mode. The remaster is a single-player collection, so the old cooperative missions, online progression, and content tied to that mode are unavailable inside it.

Walters explained to Game Informer that restoring multiplayer would have involved more than copying maps and character classes. The online economy, servers, progression, and ongoing support all raised separate technical and operational questions. Because multiplayer is absent, multiplayer-only maps, classes, rewards, and any campaign-readiness effects that depended on that service should not be counted as available Legendary Edition DLC. The single-player missions listed above remain playable without online participation.
Why are Pinnacle Station and multiplayer missing?
The two omissions have different causes. Pinnacle Station was a preservation problem: the backups BioWare obtained were corrupted, and recreating the add-on would have required rebuilding it. Multiplayer was a scope and support problem: bringing back an online service would have required restoring its infrastructure, economy, progression, and long-term operation.

These explanations come from Walters’ 2021 interviews and should not be replaced with guesses about licensing. In the Pinnacle Station interview, he said, “I wish we could do it,” while explaining why the team could not simply include the original files. In the multiplayer interview, he described the additional work involved in reproducing a live online system. Neither explanation means that the missing content is secretly present or unlockable in the remaster.
Do I need to buy the DLC separately?
For the included single-player content, no. Legendary Edition is sold as a bundled collection, so the story expansions, DLC squadmates, promotional equipment packs, and Extended Cut content listed by EA are part of that edition rather than separate purchases.
Do not apply instructions for the original Mass Effect 2 to Legendary Edition. EA’s help article about classic-game DLC and old Cerberus Network downloads concerns the original release. It is not a requirement to enter an old code to activate the remastered collection. EA’s classic-games DLC guide uses “Mass Effect” product headings that can be confusing when they appear in search results.

The one exception is content that was never included: buying Legendary Edition does not grant Pinnacle Station or restore Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. Obtaining those requires using the appropriate original release, where it remains available, rather than purchasing a missing add-on for the remaster.
What is the difference between Legendary Edition and the original releases?
Choose based on the content you actually want. Legendary Edition is the straightforward option for a modern, single-player trilogy run with almost all story DLC already packaged. An original release is relevant only if you specifically need Pinnacle Station, the original Mass Effect 3 multiplayer experience, or compatibility with older saves and services.

Backward compatibility is not a separate native PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S edition in EA’s platform listing. Check the store page for your region and platform before buying, especially if you need a physical copy or want to move saves from an older release.

Use the product name and the game version, not just a search-result snippet. A quick check prevents most confusion:
- Read the heading. If an EA help page says “Mass Effect” or “classic games,” it may describe the original 2007–2012 releases rather than Legendary Edition.
- Separate story from online content. A list that says “all DLC” may be counting single-player packs while silently excluding multiplayer.
- Look for Pinnacle Station by name. Its absence is the clearest sign that a page is describing the remaster accurately.
- Confirm the platform. EA lists Legendary Edition for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with backward-compatible play on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Ignore old activation-code advice. Cerberus Network instructions belong to the original Mass Effect 2 distribution and do not unlock missing Legendary Edition features.
What should you expect when starting a trilogy playthrough?
Expect the complete narrative arc, the major companion and campaign expansions, and the equipment packs to be available from one collection. You can recruit Zaeed and Kasumi, play Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Arrival, add Javik through From Ashes, and play Leviathan, Omega, and Citadel without shopping for individual DLC.
Expect two boundaries: there is no Pinnacle Station challenge facility in the first game, and there is no cooperative combat mode in the third. Neither omission removes a main campaign chapter. If your goal is to follow Shepard’s story, Legendary Edition is effectively the complete single-player package; if your goal is to preserve every historical feature, it is not.

The criteria are the publisher’s description of the Legendary Edition package, the named DLC lists in EA’s overview, and BioWare’s explanations for the two omissions reported by Game Informer.
