Marvel’s Wolverine has reportedly progressed from showing menus to rendering cinematics and gameplay in the KytyPS5 emulator. But Tom’s Hardware reported on September 30, 2026, that performance remained in the single digits, so this is an emulation milestone—not evidence of a practically playable PC version.
What the KytyPS5 demonstration shows
Tom’s Hardware reported that a recent KytyPS5 build could render Wolverine cinematics and gameplay, moving beyond earlier builds that reportedly stopped at starting the game and displaying menus. The report describes frame rates as remaining in the single digits. It does not provide a reproducible test configuration or method, so that performance description should be treated as an attributed report rather than a benchmark for a particular PC.
These stages mean different things: starting a game or reaching its menus shows that some initial execution is possible; rendering gameplay shows that the emulator has progressed further; neither establishes that the game runs reliably or can be completed. The demonstration does not show that Wolverine is a stable, playable PC release.
Can you play Marvel’s Wolverine on a PS5 emulator?
The cited demonstration shows gameplay being rendered, but does not establish practical playability. KytyPS5 describes itself as an early-stage PS5 emulator and warns that compatibility is limited, with crashes, graphical glitches, and poor performance to be expected. The project also cautions that behavior can change substantially between builds.

KytyPS5 is a free, open-source emulator written in C++ for Windows and Linux, with experimental macOS support. Its project documentation provides its own compatibility and maturity caveats; those caveats are important context for interpreting a single game demonstration.
What is—and is not—known about performance
The single-digit performance description comes from Tom’s Hardware’s September 30, 2026 report. The account does not establish the exact hardware, settings, or repeatable testing method behind the demonstration. It therefore does not support a prediction about what a particular CPU or GPU can achieve, or a claim that upgrading PC hardware would make the game playable through emulation.

KytyPS5’s releases page lists builds dated September 15–16, 2026, but the reporting does not identify which build was used for the Wolverine demonstration. Emulator compatibility is build-dependent and can change; the reported result should not be generalized to every release.
How Ghost of Yōtei and PS5 QSSR fit in
Tom’s Hardware also connected Ghost of Yōtei to emulator progress. That comparison is about reported emulation milestones, not proof that either game is reliably playable on PC.

- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
Separately, Sony announced on October 1, 2026, that Marvel’s Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei were the first games to receive the Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) option on PS5. The PlayStation Blog announcement concerns Sony’s console graphics feature; it does not establish KytyPS5 compatibility or emulator performance.
Official platform and release information
PlayStation lists Marvel’s Wolverine as a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure developed by Insomniac Games with Marvel Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment, released for PS5 on September 15, 2026. The official game page is the source for the supported platform and release information. For a supported way to play, look for Marvel’s Wolverine for PS5 rather than treating the emulator demonstration as a PC alternative.
