Yes—EA has documented fixes for the two confirmed Wear and Tear problems in Madden NFL 27’s Franchise mode. The August 26, 2026 update corrected an unintended multiplier that made CPU teams accumulate Wear and Tear too quickly, causing excessive early-game injuries and disrupting weekly practice-load management. The October 21, 2026 update fixed a separate problem in which CPU players could still display Wear and Tear effects after the setting had been turned off.

That does not prove that every injury, fatigue complaint, or Wear and Tear report is gone. EA has not published a before-and-after injury rate, a percentage reduction, or instructions requiring players to restart a league. A September 16 fix for unusually rapid accumulation is listed under Superstar, not Franchise, so it should not be treated as a third confirmed Franchise fix.

Is the Madden NFL 27 Wear and Tear bug fixed in Franchise mode?

For the two Franchise-specific defects EA identified, the answer is yes: both are listed as fixed in official updates. The fixes address different symptoms and should not be conflated.

  • August 26, 2026: EA corrected an unintended Wear and Tear accumulation multiplier affecting CPU teams. That multiplier produced excessive early-game injuries and interfered with CPU practice-load decisions.
  • October 21, 2026: EA corrected a setting-behavior issue in which CPU players could continue to show Wear and Tear effects even when Wear and Tear was disabled.
  • September 16, 2026: EA separately documented unusually fast Wear and Tear accumulation under the Superstar heading. The note does not independently establish that the same fix applies to Franchise.

The most accurate verdict is therefore: the documented Franchise bugs are fixed, but EA has not promised that every Wear and Tear-related complaint or injury pattern has disappeared.

What did the August 26 Franchise fix change?

The August update targeted a CPU-only accumulation problem rather than normal player-management strategy. EA said CPU teams were suffering excessive early-game injuries because an issue multiplied their Wear and Tear accumulation at a higher rate than intended. The same defect prevented those teams from managing weekly practice loads normally.

What players were seeing

The practical symptom was an unusually unhealthy CPU roster early in a season or game. Because Wear and Tear was accumulating too aggressively, CPU teams could reach injury situations before their roster-management behavior had a reasonable chance to compensate. The problem was not simply that individual players were being used heavily; the multiplier altered the rate at which the system added Wear and Tear.

What EA says the CPU should do now

EA’s developer note says CPU teams should now manage Wear and Tear more effectively through pads, reps, and rest, “significantly improving overall roster health.” Those are the three workload controls named in the note. The statement describes the intended behavior after the code change, not a published injury-rate guarantee.

What this fix does not establish

EA did not publish a percentage reduction in CPU injuries, a target injury frequency, or a test condition such as a particular number of games or weeks. The note also does not say that injuries already present in an existing league will be removed. It describes a correction to future accumulation and practice-load management.

Does turning Wear and Tear off work after the October update?

EA’s October 21 Franchise note says it fixed an issue where CPU players could still show Wear and Tear effects when the setting was turned off. That is a direct confirmation that the disabled-setting behavior was addressed.

What “fixed” means here

This change concerns the relationship between the Franchise setting and CPU-player effects. With the setting disabled, CPU players should no longer retain the Wear and Tear effects covered by that bug. The note does not provide a new menu path, a list of every visual indicator affected, or a numerical threshold for when an effect should disappear.

Why a league may still look unhealthy after the update

A setting change is not the same as reversing every consequence that occurred before the update. EA’s note does not state that accumulated fatigue, injuries, or roster changes from earlier weeks are automatically recalculated. If a league was played while the defect was active, its existing history may still contain injuries or player conditions created under the old behavior.

EA also gives no published restart instruction. There is no official statement in the update note saying that a new Franchise must be created, that an old save is incompatible, or that a title-update installation alone will rebuild earlier weeks.

Was the September 16 rapid-accumulation fix for Franchise?

Not according to the way EA categorized the note. The September 16 entry appears under Superstar, where EA described Wear and Tear accumulating much faster than intended. It included players with high Toughness and Stamina reaching severe levels after only a handful of plays.

That symptom sounds similar to the August CPU problem, but similar wording is not enough to assign the fix to another mode. The published placement matters: the September item is documented as a Superstar change, while the August and October entries are explicitly in the Franchise section. Unless EA later expands the scope in another note, treat September 16 as a Superstar fix rather than additional evidence of a Franchise fix.

What is the complete Madden NFL 27 Wear and Tear fix timeline?

Date Mode or scope Issue described by EA Type of change What is not stated
June 4, 2026 Franchise design information EA’s Franchise Deep Dive explained that Wear and Tear would make workload, rest, and usage more consequential across a season. System design and management guidance No bug fix or performance measurement
August 26, 2026 Franchise CPU teams suffered excessive early-game injuries because Wear and Tear accumulation was multiplied too aggressively; weekly practice-load management was also affected. Accumulation-rate and CPU-management correction No published injury-rate percentage or restart requirement
September 16, 2026 Superstar Wear and Tear could reach severe levels after only a handful of plays, including for players with high Toughness and Stamina. Rapid-accumulation correction in the listed mode No independent confirmation that Franchise was included
October 21, 2026 Franchise CPU players could still show Wear and Tear effects while the setting was turned off. Disabled-setting behavior correction No list of affected indicators or historical-save conversion instructions

EA’s news index identifies the October 21 update as the latest update available in the reviewed period. That makes it the current reference point for the Franchise-specific status described here.

How is Wear and Tear supposed to work in Franchise?

EA’s June 4 Franchise Deep Dive presents Wear and Tear as a season-management system rather than a single injury switch. Workload, rest, and usage are the main levers. The stated design goal is that managing star players through a playoff push requires strategy.

Workload

Workload is the amount of game and practice stress a player receives. In the intended system, repeated use can create consequences that require a coach to balance immediate performance against availability later in the season.

Rest

Rest is the recovery lever. The CPU-management note specifically names rest alongside pads and reps, indicating that the game’s automated teams are expected to adjust those choices when roster health requires it.

Why the bug mattered

When accumulation is multiplied above the intended rate, the normal trade-off is distorted. CPU teams can reach severe conditions too quickly, and their automated practice decisions may not offset the added load. That is why the August correction addressed both injury outcomes and practice-load management rather than only changing an injury display.

What should Franchise players expect after installing the fixes?

After the August and October corrections are installed, the expected behavior is narrower and more specific than “Wear and Tear is gone.” CPU teams should no longer be subjected to the documented multiplier problem, and CPU players should not continue showing the affected Wear and Tear effects when the setting is disabled.

  • CPU injury patterns should be based on the intended accumulation behavior rather than the excessive multiplier described in August.
  • CPU practice decisions should have the opportunity to use pads, reps, and rest more effectively.
  • Disabling Wear and Tear should prevent the specific CPU effects covered by the October note.
  • Existing injuries, prior workload, and old roster decisions are not documented as being erased or recalculated.
  • Unusual injuries caused by unrelated systems are not covered by these notes.

These are expectations from EA’s documented scope, not a promise that every league will have the same injury count. The official notes contain no numerical effectiveness study.

How can you check whether your Franchise is behaving normally?

EA does not publish a formal verification procedure, so the following is a practical observation checklist rather than an official test protocol. It helps separate an installation problem, an old-save history, and a genuinely continuing symptom.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Confirm the game has received the October 21, 2026 title update. Use your platform’s normal update screen and verify that the game is not waiting for a download or installation. The update date is the reference point because it contains the setting-off Franchise correction.
  2. Record the Franchise setting before changing anything. Note whether Wear and Tear is enabled or disabled, which league you are inspecting, and whether the observation concerns a CPU player. This prevents a setting change from being confused with a fix.
  3. Inspect the CPU roster and weekly practice behavior. Look for the symptoms described by EA: a cluster of unusually early CPU injuries or practice-load choices that fail to respond to roster health. One injury by itself does not demonstrate the old multiplier.
  4. Advance through several ordinary weeks without changing multiple variables at once. Keep a simple record of player availability, visible Wear and Tear effects, and the setting state. The purpose is to identify whether the same symptom recurs after the update, not to produce a universal injury percentage.
  5. Check the mode label. If the complaint comes from Superstar, the September 16 note may be the relevant comparison. If it comes from Franchise, use the August and October scope instead.
  6. Separate old history from new behavior. An injury that occurred before the update remains evidence of what happened in that league’s history, not proof that the post-update multiplier is still active.

Do not interpret this checklist as an EA guarantee that a particular number of weeks or games should produce a particular result. No such threshold is published.

What should you do if CPU teams are still getting injured unusually early?

Start by identifying which symptom remains. “Too many injuries” and “Wear and Tear effects while disabled” are different problems and point to different parts of the update history.

If the setting is disabled but effects remain

Verify that the update is installed and that the observation involves a CPU player in Franchise. If the same effect continues after the October update, capture the league’s setting state, platform, game version, and the affected player’s week and condition. EA’s note fixes the documented behavior, but it does not provide a separate recovery command for a league that already contains the condition.

If injuries are concentrated at the start of the season

Check whether the pattern began before August 26. A league that accumulated excessive Wear and Tear under the old multiplier can retain the consequences of that earlier period. The update is documented as a correction to accumulation and CPU management; it is not documented as a cleanup operation for past injuries.

If the complaint comes from Superstar

Use the September 16 Superstar note as the relevant reference. Do not assume that a fix listed for Superstar changes Franchise behavior unless EA explicitly says so in a later update.

If the issue does not match any documented symptom

These notes do not cover every possible injury, fatigue, depth-chart, or roster-management problem. Describe the exact mode, setting, date, player condition, and sequence of events when reporting the issue rather than labeling every unexpected injury as the Wear and Tear multiplier bug.

Did EA publish a before-and-after injury measurement?

No. The reviewed updates contain no percentage reduction, injury-rate benchmark, sample size, or laboratory-style comparison. The August developer note uses qualitative language—CPU teams should manage Wear and Tear “significantly” better and improve overall roster health—but it does not attach a numeric target.

That limitation matters when interpreting community reports. A single Franchise can still produce a run of injuries through ordinary workload, contact, or other game systems without contradicting the fix. Conversely, a report of repeated early CPU injuries is worth documenting, but it cannot be converted into a measured failure rate from EA’s published information.

Do you need to restart a Franchise after the fixes?

EA has not published a restart requirement or a guarantee that existing saves are fully retroactively repaired. The safest distinction is between future simulation behavior and past league history: the updates correct the game logic described in their notes, while injuries and Wear and Tear accumulated earlier may remain part of the save’s history.

Players who want to examine post-update behavior can use an existing league and carefully note when the update was installed. Creating a separate test league is optional, not an EA instruction. Whichever approach you choose, do not report a required restart as fact because the official notes do not say one is necessary.

What is the final status of Madden NFL 27 Wear and Tear in Franchise?

As of EA’s October 21, 2026 update, the two confirmed Franchise defects have documented fixes: the August multiplier that drove excessive CPU accumulation and early injuries, and the October behavior that allowed CPU effects to appear while Wear and Tear was disabled. The September rapid-accumulation item remains a Superstar-specific entry in the published notes.

The fixes make the intended workload-management system more credible, but they do not come with a numeric injury guarantee or a promise that old save data will be rewritten. Judge a continuing problem by its mode, setting, timing, and exact symptom rather than by the general fact that a Franchise roster has injuries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will injuries that happened before the August update disappear automatically?

EA’s notes do not say that earlier injuries are removed or recalculated. Treat pre-update injuries as existing league history unless a future update explicitly describes a retroactive cleanup.

Is the Wear and Tear setting shared between Franchise and Superstar?

The fixes are documented by mode, so a Superstar change should not be assumed to alter Franchise behavior. Check the heading and wording of the relevant EA update before applying it to another mode.

Can high Toughness and Stamina still lead to severe Wear and Tear?

Those attributes were mentioned in the September 16 Superstar issue because severe levels could be reached after only a handful of plays. The note does not say that high Toughness or Stamina make a player immune to normal Wear and Tear after the fix.

Where can I find a guaranteed post-fix injury percentage?

EA has not published one for these updates. The available statements describe corrected logic and expected CPU management, not a measured injury-rate target.
