LYNX has proposed changes to 22 Links in Central Florida, with Link 701 the only route slated for discontinuation. The package also includes selected trip cancellations, reroutes, schedule adjustments and added Saturday frequency. As of October 3, 2026, it is not final: the Board is scheduled to vote October 22, and December 13 is the intended start date. LYNX labels the proposal “Subject to change.”

What is proposed, and when could it take effect?

LYNX’s September 17 announcement describes a proposed service change package covering 22 Links. The agency scheduled a Board vote for October 22, 2026, at 1 p.m. at LYNX Central Station, and named December 13 as the intended effective date. Neither approval nor that start date is settled as of October 3. LYNX says approved changes will proceed to updated timetables, maps and brochures; the proposal is not a final timetable. Most listed Links are not being eliminated. The proposal distinguishes a full route discontinuation from selected trips removed, segments discontinued, reroutes and schedule changes.

How can riders comment, and what happens next?

LYNX’s announcement listed public comments through 5 p.m. October 12, 2026, and offered online, mail and in-person submission paths. The information sessions scheduled for September 21 and 22 and the September 29 workshop and hearing have passed as of October 3. The Board vote is scheduled for October 22. The announcement includes the listed comment options and meeting details.

LYNX’s Service Guidelines describe major changes as including route eliminations and service reductions over specified route-level thresholds: more than 25% of revenue hours or miles, subject to stated exceptions. The hearing process gathers comments and recommendations. Staff review comments and provide a final recommendation; the Board may approve recommendations or propose an alternative plan.

How should riders check whether a trip is affected?

  1. Identify the exact Link, stop and travel day. Several proposals affect only a particular departure, direction, segment or day of the week.
  2. Compare the proposal with the final schedule after the Board decision. Check LYNX’s published maps and timetables for the date you plan to travel; the current proposal does not establish final departure times or stop-by-stop impacts.
  3. Recheck before traveling near the proposed change date. The December 13 date is an intention, not a confirmed start date as of October 3.
  4. For Link 701, verify the suggested alternative for your trip. LYNX names NeighborLinks 811 and 812, but that does not establish identical routes, stops or availability.

What has been reported about the reason for the proposal?

ClickOrlando/WKMG reported a 6.2% decrease in riders between May 2025 and May 2026 and a 9.5% decrease in total ridership between June 2025 and June 2026. Those are the outlet’s reported year-over-year comparisons; an underlying LYNX ridership dataset was not available in the cited material for independent verification. The outlet said LYNX had not named a reason for the route adjustments at its publication time, so the reported decreases should not be presented as LYNX’s stated rationale.
