Lindsley Ruth stepped down as RS Group’s chief executive with immediate effect on 16 December 2022, citing personal reasons. CFO David Egan took over as acting CEO while the company searched for a permanent successor; Simon Pryce became CEO on 3 April 2023.
Why did Lindsley Ruth leave RS Group?
RS Group said Ruth was leaving for personal reasons. Its 16 December 2022 announcement did not attribute his departure to a performance or governance failure. The company had announced on 3 November 2022 that Ruth would take a leave of absence for personal reasons, with CFO David Egan assuming his duties during that period. In announcing his departure, Ruth said: “I am proud to have led RS Group for over seven years. We have come a long way, and while the time is right for me to step away, I could not be prouder to see the great people in this business outperform and pursue the opportunities ahead.”
Chair Rona Fairhead credited Ruth with leading “the turnaround of an underperforming business” and building a strong vision and purpose with the wider team. She also thanked him for his achievements on behalf of the board and company. RS Group’s 16 December 2022 announcement
