Across recent lists, several Identities stand out repeatedly, but the best pick for your roster still depends on role, team synergy, enemy resistance, and how far you have upgraded the Identity.
This guide uses rankings updated between September 15 and October 6, 2026. Treat the names below as cross-list standouts—not a single official ordering—and check current lists again after major updates.
Which Identities stand out across current tier lists?
Multiple recent lists place these Identities among their highest-ranked options. The publishers use different tier labels and ranking methods, so recurrence is a useful signal, not proof that every pick is best in every team or encounter.

Its page reports rankings for 175 characters, using median placement across 15 current tier lists. Pocket Gamer’s September 17 list uses S+ and S tiers, while Pocket Tactics’ September 15 list groups many of the same names in SS. Those labels are not directly comparable. How to choose an Identity for a Sinner
Start with what your team and the encounter need, rather than treating a tier label as a universal recommendation. Prydwen’s role framework sorts Identities into damage dealer, status specialist, support, and tank. Use that distinction to identify the job you need filled; then check the Identity’s status interactions, damage types, and upgrade assumptions. (Prydwen)
Check team and status synergy
Some Identities make more sense in a team built around a particular status or ally interaction than as a standalone choice. Pocket Gamer’s notes illustrate why mechanics matter: its R Corp. 4th Pack Rabbit Heathcliff analysis discusses damage alongside Bleed, Fragile, and Rupture application. Its One Who Shall Grip Sinclair note describes Bleed, Blunt skills, an interaction with Faust’s passive, and a raised Stagger Threshold. Match damage type to the encounter
Enemy resistance can change the value of an otherwise appealing pick. For example, Pocket Gamer specifically notes that LCCB Assistant Manager Ishmael has Blunt-only skills and advises considering enemy resistance. A high placement cannot make a damage type effective against every opponent. (Pocket Gamer)
Account for upgrades
A general tier ranking does not establish that an Identity performs equally well at every upgrade level. Before investing, check whether the ranking or explanation assumes a particular upgrade state; if it does not say, do not assume the recommendation describes an unupgraded Identity.

Why tier lists disagree—and how much to rely on them
Tier lists are editorial guidance, not game-issued rankings. Pocket Tactics explicitly calls its list subjective and points out that Limbus Company has no competitive meta. The practical implication is that a lower-ranked favorite can still be a reasonable choice, especially when it fits your team or the encounter better. (Pocket Tactics)
Lists also differ in their tier names, scope, and approach. gacha.gg aggregates median placements across 15 lists; an individual publisher may instead present its own tiers and mechanics notes. Prydwen’s page was updated October 6, 2026, but its captured interactive tier rows did not expose Identity names, so its role framework is useful here while specific placements are drawn from lists that show them. The sources behind this guide were updated between September 15 and October 6, 2026; Pocket Gamer identifies its September 17 list as covering version 1.114.0.
