LEGO’s UCS AT-ST Walker 75417 is a large, adult-oriented display model; the Hoth AT-ST 75322 is a smaller, minifigure-focused play set. The 75417 has 1,513 pieces, a 37 cm height, a detailed interior and a UCS information plaque, but only limited action functions and one minifigure. The 75322 has 586 pieces, stands over 26 cm high, includes three minifigures and an Imperial Probe Droid, and adds a rotating head, spring-loaded shooters and posable legs for Hoth battle play.
That difference in purpose matters more than the AT-ST name. Choose 75417 for scale, construction challenge and display finish. Choose 75322 for minifigure interaction, repeatable play and a lower original list price. The small 4+ AT-ST 75332 is an introductory set, not a like-for-like alternative to either full-size walker.

The table shows why calling one set simply “better” is misleading. They allocate their parts, space and mechanisms to different jobs. The UCS model spends more of its budget on structure, interior volume and surface treatment. The 75322 spends less on each area so it can remain compact, affordable at its original price and practical for hands-on Hoth scenes.

75417: an Ultimate Collector Series centerpiece
LEGO identifies 75417 as an Ultimate Collector Series version of the AT-ST Walker from the classic Star Wars saga. The 18+ rating signals an adult construction project rather than a child-focused playset. Its 1,513 pieces are arranged around a Technic-supported chassis and legs, with a larger body than the play-scale walker. The finished model is intended to stand on a shelf, desk or display cabinet where its silhouette, panel work and plaque can be examined from several angles.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
GamesRadar contributor Mike Harris describes a roughly five-hour build and calls it a hard 18+ challenge. That time is not a promise for every builder: pace, experience and whether you build continuously will change the result. It does establish the character of the model. You are assembling a substantial display sculpture with internal engineering, not completing a short vehicle build before starting a battle.
75322: the full-size standard comparator
The Hoth AT-ST 75322 is the useful comparison for 75417 because it is a complete, minifigure-oriented walker rather than a small introductory toy. LEGO lists 586 pieces and a 9+ age recommendation. Its design supports recreating Hoth action, solo play and social play. The cockpit opens, the head turns through a wheel mechanism, the legs can be posed and spring-loaded shooters give the model an immediate play function.
LEGO describes the model as an authentically detailed Hoth AT-ST. That does not mean it is a miniature version of every UCS feature. The 75322 has enough exterior shaping to read clearly as the snow-world walker while reserving parts and space for a cockpit, figures and mechanisms that can be handled during a scene.

75332: a beginner set, not a scale rival
The AT-ST 75332 is aimed at ages 4 and up and contains 87 pieces. It stands over 4.5 inches high and comes with a speeder, an Ewok lookout and three minifigures. Those contents make it useful as a first LEGO Star Wars set or a portable introduction for a young builder. Its small size and simplified construction mean that it should not be used as evidence that the standard AT-ST is close in size or detail to 75417. If a buyer wants a full-height, minifigure-focused walker, 75322 is the relevant standard model.
Size, footprint and scale
Published dimensions
| Measurement | 75417 UCS | 75322 Hoth | Practical difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Height | 14.5 in (37 cm) | Over 10.5 in (26 cm) | UCS is about 38% taller using the published figures |
| Length | 8.5 in (22 cm) | 6 in (16 cm) | UCS projects farther front-to-back |
| Width | 8.5 in (22 cm) | 5 in (13 cm) | UCS needs a substantially wider shelf area |
The height gap is immediately visible. The UCS walker rises to 37 cm, while LEGO lists the 75322 at more than 26 cm. On the published figures, that is an increase of roughly 11 cm and approximately 38 percent. The UCS also occupies a wider 22-by-22-cm envelope, compared with about 16-by-13 cm for the 75322. Check the full depth and width of a shelf rather than measuring only the legs: the head, weapons and feet determine how much clearance the finished model needs.
Why the larger model is not simply “the same AT-ST, enlarged”
GamesRadar states that 75417 is not minifigure scale, while previous AT-ST playsets are much closer to minifigure scale. In practice, that means a minifigure placed beside the UCS walker will not create the same proportional relationship as a figure in the 75322 cockpit. The UCS model can show a convincing machine as an object in its own right; the 75322 is sized to make figures, weapons and a Hoth scene work together.

The distinction also affects display planning. A 75417 display needs vertical headroom for its 37-cm height and a broad, stable area for its 22-cm width. A 75322 can fit more readily beside other minifigure-scale Star Wars sets, where figures and vehicles share a common visual scale. Neither measurement includes extra room for opening panels or moving the head, so leave operating clearance if you intend to use those functions.
Detail and construction: where the extra pieces go
UCS chassis, legs and exterior treatment
The UCS model’s 1,513 pieces support a Technic-based chassis and legs. That internal framework is important because the tall body and heavy upper structure need a more substantial connection than a short, lightweight play vehicle. The model is described as having a detailed interior, extensive rear greebling and tiling, opening top panels and a printed UCS information plaque. These are display-oriented decisions: surfaces reward close inspection, and the rear of the walker is treated as part of the presentation rather than as an area hidden from a child’s play angle.
The current design is more squat than the prototype, with thicker, shorter legs, larger feet, a wider central chassis and a more tapered face. Those proportions are a deliberate interpretation of the subject, not a missing piece or assembly error. They give the finished model a broad stance and help it read as a heavy display object. Builders comparing photographs with an earlier screen image should expect that stylized interpretation.
75322’s detail budget
The 75322 uses 586 pieces to balance recognizable Hoth styling with a cockpit that can be opened and handled. Its rotating head, weapons and posable legs are part of the visual design as well as the play system. Exterior shaping is sufficient to identify the vehicle, but it does not attempt the UCS model’s large interior, rear greebling coverage or plaque presentation.
That is not a simple quality ranking. On a play-scale set, a panel that opens reliably and a mechanism that a child can operate may be more valuable than a hidden layer of tiles. The 75322’s parts are doing several jobs at once: forming the silhouette, holding figures, exposing the cockpit and delivering repeatable actions. The UCS model can spend more parts on areas that will usually remain stationary on a shelf.

Interior access
75417’s top panel opens to reveal two seats and three control panels. It also has a smaller top hatch and opening eye hatches. Those spaces add depth to the display and let a builder inspect the control layout even though the model is not designed around frequent figure play.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

The 75322 provides cockpit access through an opening hatch and roof. Its interior is sized around the included Hoth characters and the play scenario. If your priority is placing and removing figures repeatedly, the standard set’s proportions and opening layout are more convenient than the larger model’s display-focused interior.
Play features and mechanical interaction
What 75417 can do
UCS 75417 has deliberately limited play functions. You can tilt the head from side to side, raise and lower the front twin blasters, spin the side weaponry, open the small top hatch and the larger top panel, and open and close the eye hatches. These movements let you adjust the pose and expose the interior without changing the model’s primary role as a display piece.
There is no indication that the UCS set is intended to provide a full battle-play system. It includes one premium AT-ST Driver minifigure, and its 18+ positioning and display plaque reinforce that emphasis. A buyer expecting repeated projectile launches, a large cast and rapid repositioning may find the feature set restrained. A buyer who wants to dust, pose and occasionally inspect the cockpit will get the relevant interactions without sacrificing the model’s visual finish.
What 75322 adds for play
The Hoth AT-ST includes an opening hatch and roof for cockpit access, a wheel-operated rotating head, two spring-loaded shooters and posable legs. Those functions create a simple play loop: load the cockpit with a figure, turn the head toward a target, aim the weapons and adjust the stance. The spring-loaded shooters provide an action absent from the UCS model’s listed functions.
Because the 75322 is closer to minifigure scale, its functions connect directly to the included characters and the Hoth setting. It can be placed in a larger scene and used without treating the figures as decorative accessories. The trade-off is that its smaller part count and compact body cannot provide the same depth of interior treatment or exterior tiling as 75417.
Included characters and scene value
Character selection is one of the clearest differences between the sets. The UCS 75417 includes a premium AT-ST Driver minifigure. That single figure is appropriate for a collector display, where the walker is the subject and the driver provides a sense of scale. It is less suitable for buyers who want to stage opposing forces or recreate a complete Hoth encounter straight from one box.

The 75322 includes a Hoth AT-ST Pilot, Hoth Rebel Trooper and snow-decorated Chewbacca, plus an Imperial Probe Droid. Those additions give the standard set a built-in cast and a target for the walker’s weapons. They also make the price and parts count do more than build the vehicle: the box supplies the figures and droid needed for an immediate scene.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe 75332 has three minifigures as well, but its figures belong to a smaller introductory setup with a speeder and Ewok lookout. It is useful when the intended recipient is a 4+ beginner, not when the objective is to populate a display at either 75417 or 75322 scale.
Build experience and difficulty
Why 75417 takes longer
With nearly three times the pieces of 75322, 75417 offers a more extended construction sequence. GamesRadar’s approximately five-hour report and “hard, 18+ challenge” characterization are useful expectations for an experienced adult builder, though individual times vary. The Technic-supported legs and chassis, layered body and detailed surface work require more attention than a short play-scale build.
The longer process is part of the value for a UCS buyer. Each stage contributes to a display model that can be examined after completion. Builders who enjoy structural techniques, repeated subassemblies and finishing work will find more to do. Builders who primarily want to reach a playable Hoth scene quickly may prefer the shorter route represented by 75322.
Why 75322 suits younger or social builders
LEGO rates 75322 for ages 9 and up and frames it for solo and social play. Its 586 pieces are enough to make the build substantial without turning the project into an adult-scale commitment. The cockpit, wheel-operated head and spring-loaded shooters provide a clear payoff as construction progresses.

Age labels are guidance, not a guarantee of completion time or skill. Younger builders may still need help with Technic connections or small repeated elements, while an experienced adult can finish the model faster. The meaningful distinction is the kind of concentration required: 75417 is an adult display challenge, whereas 75322 is structured around accessible construction followed by hands-on play.

Price, retirement and availability
75417’s current US position
LEGO lists the UCS 75417 at a US price of $199.99. At access time in 2026, LEGO’s US product page marked it temporarily out of stock. “Temporarily out of stock” is a snapshot, not a permanent retirement notice, so availability and seller pricing can change. Buyers should check the current LEGO listing and the total delivered price in their own country before ordering.
75322’s former list price
LEGO’s US page lists the Hoth 75322 as a retired product with a former US list price of $49.99. That is a historical reference, not a promise that a current listing costs $49.99. Once a set is retired, resale prices depend on condition, completeness, packaging and local demand. Compare several live listings and verify that the box includes the figures, droid and spring-loaded components before treating a price as a fair substitute for the original retail figure.
75332 pricing
A US list price is not established here for 75332, so it should not be used to create a numerical price comparison. Its relevance is functional: it is the 4+ beginner option with 87 pieces, a small walker, a speeder, an Ewok lookout and three minifigures.
Which set should you buy?
Choose 75417 for a display centerpiece
- You want the largest and most visually imposing AT-ST of these options.
- You enjoy an adult build that GamesRadar describes as roughly five hours and challenging.
- You value a Technic-supported structure, a detailed interior, rear greebling, tiling and a printed UCS plaque.
- You have shelf space for a 37-cm-tall, approximately 22-cm-wide model.
- You are comfortable with one included minifigure and limited action functions.
The UCS set is especially logical when the walker itself is the collection’s centerpiece. Its extra size is visible from across a room, while the interior and surface treatment reward close viewing. The purchase makes less sense if the main goal is a large cast, projectile play or a model that matches minifigures proportionally.
Choose 75322 for play and minifigure scenes
- You want a walker that works with minifigures and Hoth battle setups.
- You prefer a rotating head, spring-loaded shooters and posable legs to a display plaque.
- You want three named minifigures and an Imperial Probe Droid in the box.
- You need a model smaller than 75417 for a shelf or play area.
- You are buying for a builder covered by LEGO’s 9+ guidance.
The 75322 is the stronger choice for interaction. Its cockpit access, wheel-operated head and spring-loaded weapons give a child or group something to do after the build, and its characters establish a scene without requiring additional purchases.
Choose 75332 only for the beginner use case
Select 75332 when the recipient specifically needs a 4+ introduction, a very small model or a portable set with a simple accompanying scene. Do not choose it as a visual substitute for the 75417 or as the standard full-size comparator. Its 87-piece construction and 4.5-inch-plus height place it in a different category.
Trade-offs to check before ordering
| If your priority is… | Better fit | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum height and shelf presence | 75417 | 37 cm tall versus more than 26 cm for 75322 |
| Minifigure-scale scenes | 75322 | Closer to minifigure scale; UCS is explicitly not minifigure scale |
| Surface finish and interior display | 75417 | More pieces, interior treatment, rear greebling, tiling and plaque |
| Hands-on battle play | 75322 | Spring-loaded shooters, rotating head, posable legs and four included non-UCS characters/creatures |
| Long adult construction project | 75417 | 1,513 pieces and a reported five-hour, hard 18+ build |
| Lower original retail cost | 75322 | Former US list price was $49.99 versus $199.99 for 75417 |
| Youngest intended builder | 75332 | Rated 4+; it is a beginner set rather than a comparable walker |
A practical buying checklist
- Measure the destination. For 75417, allow for a 37-cm height and an approximately 22-by-22-cm footprint, plus clearance to open panels and move weapons. For 75322, allow for more than 26 cm of height and roughly 16-by-13 cm of footprint.
- Decide whether figures are actors or accessories. If the walker must host a Hoth scene, the 75322’s three minifigures and Imperial Probe Droid are the useful contents. If the driver only needs to establish scale on a shelf, 75417’s single premium driver is consistent with its purpose.
- Choose the kind of movement you will use. Pick 75417 for posing, inspection and opening display panels. Pick 75322 if head rotation, spring-loaded shooters and leg posing will be used repeatedly.
- Match the build to the recipient. The UCS model is rated 18+ and described as a hard, approximately five-hour project. The standard model is rated 9+, while 75332 is rated 4+.
- Verify the live price and status. Treat $199.99 as the listed US price for 75417 and $49.99 as the former US price for retired 75322, not as guaranteed checkout prices. Check stock, region, seller condition and completeness at the time of purchase.
- Do not compare 75332 on the wrong axis. Its 87 pieces and 4.5-inch-plus height make it a beginner and portability option, not a smaller version of the UCS display model.
The bottom-line distinction
75417 and 75322 depict the same Imperial walker, but they answer different ownership questions. The UCS model asks how convincingly the machine can be built and displayed at a large scale; the standard Hoth set asks how effectively the machine can participate in a minifigure scene. The right choice follows from that priority, not from the number printed on the box alone.
