The LEGO PlayStation set (72306) is a near-life-size, brick-built display replica of the original console and controller—not a working game system. LEGO lists it at 1,911 pieces and over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 19 cm deep. Its functional mechanical Open and Power buttons, plug-in controller, and removable Gran Turismo and Ape Escape scenes distinguish it from an original PS1.
How big is the LEGO PlayStation set?
The completed model measures over 6 cm (2.5 in.) high, 26 cm (10.5 in.) wide, and 19 cm (7.5 in.) deep, according to LEGO’s product announcement. LEGO describes the set as an 18+ build with 1,911 pieces. Sony also calls the model near 1:1 scale and cites its 26 cm width in its PlayStation Blog announcement.
“Near 1:1” is the manufacturers’ description, not a dimension-by-dimension measurement against a specific original PS1 hardware revision. The published figures establish the LEGO model’s footprint, but an exact numerical comparison with a particular original console cannot be made from those specifications alone.
What does the LEGO model include?
Console and controller replica
The build recreates the original PlayStation’s grey silhouette and its controller as brick-built display pieces. The controller plugs into the console model, according to Sony’s announcement. The product is a collectible building set, rather than an electronic recreation of the console.

Mechanical buttons
The Open and Power buttons are described as functional. They are mechanical features of the build; the product descriptions do not say that they power electronics or enable gameplay.
Concealed game scenes
Two removable scenes inspired by Gran Turismo and Ape Escape fit inside the model. Sony describes the Gran Turismo scene as a miniature track with cars. The Ape Escape scene features a monkey helmet light that can switch between red and blue. The scenes can be taken out and displayed separately.

The two objects share the console-and-controller concept, but they serve different purposes: the LEGO version is a buildable display piece, while original hardware is for playing games. Official product descriptions do not claim that the LEGO set can run games.

LEGO’s September 2026 announcement lists recommended retail prices of US $179.99, UK £139.99, and €159.99. It gives October 1, 2026, as the start of LEGO Insiders early access and October 4, 2026, as general availability through LEGO.com, LEGO Stores, and select retailers. Sony’s announcement also lists ¥27,980 including tax and says PlayStation Direct availability begins October 1 in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. These are announced launch terms, not confirmation of current local stock or resale prices.
