If Larix Broadcaster shows a black screen on YouTube Live, first check whether Larix is paused or in stand-by: pause mode intentionally sends black video. Then compare Larix’s local preview with the preview in YouTube Live Control Room. A black local preview points to Larix’s capture state, camera selection, or video mode; a working local preview with a black YouTube preview points to the connection or YouTube’s live workflow.

Check Larix pause and stand-by
While the broadcast is running, check Larix’s pause control and make sure the stream is not paused or in stand-by. Softvelum’s Larix Broadcaster for Android documentation explains that pause keeps the stream connected but sends black video and silence: “Video track will contain a black screen while audio track will contain silence.” Stand-by is different: it waits to start with camera imagery.

Compare Larix’s preview with YouTube’s
Look at the camera preview in Larix before changing YouTube settings. If the Larix preview is black, troubleshoot capture on the phone first. If Larix shows live camera video but YouTube does not, move to the connection and Live Control Room checks below. This comparison helps isolate where to investigate; it does not guarantee a single cause.

Verify the selected camera and video mode
In Larix, check whether the front or back camera is selected, then switch cameras once to see whether the other source appears. On Android versions and devices that support multi-camera selection, confirm the intended camera is selected. Also inspect the connection’s capture mode: Larix offers video-plus-audio, video-only, and audio-only. For a YouTube stream with a picture, video must be enabled; Softvelum’s Larix setup reference specifies video-plus-audio mode for its YouTube connection setup.

Check camera access on Android
If Larix’s own preview stays black, confirm Larix is allowed to use the camera in Android’s app-permission settings. The exact menu labels vary by Android version and phone manufacturer. Reopen Larix after correcting access and check its preview again.

Verify YouTube’s server URL and stream key
Only if Larix’s local preview works, check the connection details against the current values shown in your own YouTube Studio Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions require the server URL and stream key. Larix’s setup reference explains how the server URL and stream name/key are used in its connection URL. Copy the current values carefully, and do not share or publish your stream key: anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.

Complete YouTube’s scheduled-stream workflow
For a scheduled YouTube stream, start the encoder and wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room; then select Go live. YouTube documents this sequence in its live encoder help. If Larix shows video but the YouTube preview remains black, investigate the encoder connection and the Live Control Room status rather than treating it as proof that the phone camera has failed.

If the screen is still black
Before contacting support, note the details that distinguish a phone capture issue from an encoder or YouTube issue:
- Phone model and Android version
- Larix Broadcaster version
- Whether Larix’s own preview is black or only YouTube’s preview is black
- Selected camera and connection capture mode
- Any encoder status or error message shown in Larix or Live Control Room
The official setup and feature documentation describes the controls and workflow, but does not establish one universal cause for black-screen reports across Android devices.
