When Larix Broadcaster fails on a Redmi or Xiaomi phone, first identify where it fails: opening the app, connecting to YouTube, staying live in the background, or maintaining video quality. Those are different problems, and there is no verified battery-setting path that fixes every Redmi or Xiaomi model. Check the YouTube destination and stream key first; investigate background restrictions only if the stream stops when Larix is backgrounded or the screen locks; check the network and bitrate if frames drop.
Identify what “not working” means
Note the exact point at which the failure occurs before changing settings. Larix Broadcaster is an Android encoder that supports YouTube Live using RTMP or RTMPS, but each failure stage calls for a different check. Larix Broadcaster on Google Play (use the listing’s exact app page address) and YouTube’s encoder guide describe the app and encoder workflow.
- Larix crashes or will not open: focus on the app launch problem; a stream key will not explain an app that cannot start.
- Larix opens but will not connect: check the YouTube account, server URL, stream key and stream readiness.
- The stream stops after locking the screen or switching apps: investigate whether Larix was explicitly closed or restricted from background activity.
- The stream stays connected but looks choppy or drops frames: assess upload stability and the stream’s bitrate and encoder demands.
When asking for help, include the exact Redmi/Xiaomi model and its MIUI or HyperOS version, as well as the failure stage. The available guidance does not establish a single settings sequence for all device builds.
Larix won’t connect to YouTube
Confirm the YouTube account and live-stream path
Make sure the intended channel can stream and that you are following the encoder workflow rather than assuming YouTube’s mobile-app rules automatically describe Larix. For live streaming through YouTube’s mobile flow, YouTube’s mobile-live help lists a verified channel, at least 50 subscribers, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, live streaming enabled, and Android 8.0 or later. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. These are published requirements for mobile live streaming; confirm the requirements for the specific account and path you are using.

Check the server URL and stream key
- Open the YouTube Live control room for the channel you intend to use and prepare the intended stream.
- In Larix, verify that the destination uses the correct YouTube Live server URL and the matching stream key. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains where these values fit in an encoder workflow.
- Check for copied spaces, missing characters or an old key. If you replace or reset the key in YouTube, update the value in Larix too.
- Start the encoder and check YouTube’s live control room for an incoming signal. If no signal appears, recheck the destination and key before changing phone battery settings.
Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to that stream. Do not publish it in screenshots or support requests.
Larix stops when the screen locks or the app goes to the background
Softvelum’s Larix FAQ says Android background streaming works by default until the app is explicitly closed. That describes Larix’s intended behavior, not a guarantee that every Xiaomi software build will keep the process running.

- Start a short test stream and switch to another app or lock the screen. Note whether the stream ends immediately or after a delay.
- Check whether you swiped Larix away, used a cleaner or task-manager tool, or otherwise explicitly closed it.
- Review the phone’s battery and background-activity controls for restrictions on Larix. Xiaomi menu names and locations can differ by model, region and MIUI/HyperOS release, so use the controls shown on your own build rather than following an unverified universal path.
- Repeat the test with Larix in the foreground. If it remains live only in the foreground, that points toward background handling rather than a YouTube key problem.
A support response about Larix Screencaster has recommended “No restrictions” under Xiaomi Battery saver, but it does not verify that the same path or result applies to Larix Broadcaster across current Xiaomi devices. Treat such a setting as a model-specific possibility, not a confirmed one-size-fits-all fix.

A connected stream can still lose frames when network conditions worsen. Softvelum notes that RTMP and RTSP can show frame loss as conditions degrade; its FAQ also discusses SRT recovery within the configured latency and adaptive bitrate for unreliable networks. The current Larix listing describes adaptive bitrate as a feature, though available features can depend on the app edition.

- Test on a stable Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection and compare results on another network if available.
- Reduce the stream’s bitrate or video demands, then test again. A lower, stable setting is often more useful than a high setting the connection cannot sustain.
- If using adaptive bitrate, check whether it is available in your Larix edition and enabled for the chosen destination.
- Separate dropped frames from a failed connection: if YouTube still receives the stream, focus on network stability and encoding load rather than repeatedly replacing the stream key.
Changing protocols is not a universal cure: Larix’s guidance describes different behavior for RTMP/RTSP and SRT, and SRT’s recovery depends on its configured latency.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not confuse YouTube Mobile Live app requirements with Larix requirements
Google’s Android Mobile Live developer documentation covers applications that launch YouTube’s Mobile Live flow. It specifies Android Marshmallow/API 23 or later, a camera capable of 720p at 30 fps, a microphone, specified hardware audio/video encoders, and YouTube app version 13.02 or later. Those are requirements for that Mobile Live intent, not a stated minimum Android version for Larix Broadcaster.

- Exact phone model and MIUI/HyperOS version and region, if known.
- Larix version and whether it opens, connects, stops in the background, or drops frames.
- Whether the same stream works with the phone screen on and whether another network changes the result.
- A redacted description of the destination setup. Never send or post the full stream key.
YouTube’s encoder guide and the Larix FAQ are the relevant references for stream setup and Larix behavior; device-specific background menus should be checked against the exact phone build.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream of prerecorded video rather than broadcasting live camera footage, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams your uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded video to YouTube, not a phone-camera broadcast. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
