Kena: Scars of Kosmora has been delayed from its previously announced 2026 window to 2027. Ember Lab says the extra time will help it polish the expanded adventure. The October 1, 2026 announcement gives no exact release date.
What is the new release window for Kena: Scars of Kosmora?
Ember Lab now plans to release Kena: Scars of Kosmora in 2027. The studio’s February 12, 2026 announcement had said the game would arrive “this year,” meaning 2026. The revised window was announced on the PlayStation Blog on October 1, 2026; the original window appears in the February 12 announcement.

The October post specifies only the year. It does not announce a month, quarter, or day, so there is no confirmed exact date to put on a calendar yet.
Why was the game delayed?
Ember Lab says it needs more time to polish the expanded game experience it wants to deliver. In the PlayStation Blog announcement, studio COO Josh Grier wrote: “Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver.”

The studio also says it aims to exceed the quality of its 2021 debut, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, while making a game of larger scale. That is Ember Lab’s stated rationale; the announcement does not provide a development-completion estimate or a more specific cause for the delay.

Kena is an experienced Spirit Guide. Her childhood friend Orfio believes the island of Kosmora may hold answers they are seeking, and Kena travels there to learn more about her past and future as a Spirit Guide.
Ember Lab describes the game as a character-focused, linear adventure with a broader scope than Bridge of Spirits. The island features multiple living cultures and elemental traditions, along with Alchemystic Temple dungeons. A crystalline canine companion serves as Kena’s mount and assists with combat and puzzles.
