Kenan Urker, the father of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s daughter, was found dead at a Raceland, Louisiana, residence on October 1, 2026, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. The office said deputies responded at 6:15 p.m. and that the death investigation was continuing. TMZ separately reported, citing family sources, that Blanchard sent Urker a birthday greeting earlier that day and that her brother Dylan later found him at home.
What happened to Ken Urker?
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a residence in Raceland at 6:15 p.m. on October 1. In a statement quoted by TheWrap, the office said: “We responded to a residence at 107 Double H Drive, Lot 4, in Raceland today after receiving a call at 6:15 p.m. Kenan Urker, 34, was found dead upon arrival. At this time, we are continuing the death investigation.”
The sheriff’s statement establishes that Urker was found dead when responders arrived. TMZ’s account that Blanchard’s brother Dylan found him unresponsive at home came from family sources, rather than the quoted sheriff’s statement.
What was the birthday message?
TMZ initially reported, citing family sources, that Blanchard sent Urker a “Happy Birthday” message and received no response. In a follow-up published October 2, TMZ described it as a voice note sent at about 2 p.m. Thursday, in which she discussed their daughter, Aurora. That later account is why the message should not be described as definitively a text without attribution. TMZ’s initial report and October 2 follow-up describe the family-source reporting.

Has Ken Urker’s cause of death been announced?
No cause had been established in the October 2 reporting. TMZ reported that the medical examiner had no definitive cause at that time, toxicology was pending, and additional cause information was not expected until results were received and the investigation was complete. The sheriff’s statement quoted by TheWrap said the death investigation was continuing.
TMZ also reported that Blanchard believed an unidentified substance found near Urker meant he had overdosed. That was her reported belief, not an official finding; she reportedly said she did not know whether it was intentional or accidental. The available reporting does not establish overdose as the cause or determine the manner of death. TMZ’s October 2 report covered the pending medical examiner determination and Blanchard’s reported belief.

Blanchard and Urker reconnected in early 2024 and welcomed their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, in December 2024, according to TheWrap. He was the father of Blanchard’s daughter.
TheWrap also reproduced a statement from Blanchard: “The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure.”
