Yes. JumpCloud Remote Assist for Windows versions earlier than 0.317.0 are affected by CVE-2025-34352, a local privilege-escalation flaw in the uninstaller. Because that uninstaller can run as NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM, a low-privilege user with local access may be able to interfere with privileged file operations and compromise the endpoint. Update Remote Assist to version 0.317.0 or later, then verify the installed version across managed Windows devices.

What is CVE-2025-34352?

CVE-2025-34352 affects the Windows uninstaller for JumpCloud Remote Assist. The JumpCloud Windows Agent can invoke that uninstaller during agent updates or removal, and the uninstaller runs with the highly privileged NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM account, according to the CVE record.

The weakness involves predictable files in a user-writable %TEMP% subdirectory. SecurityWeek reproduces NIST’s description: the uninstaller performs privileged file creation, writing, execution, and deletion there without first ensuring the directory is trusted or resetting its permissions when it already exists. A local user may therefore influence files the SYSTEM-level process handles. See SecurityWeek’s vulnerability report.

Can the flaw let someone take over a Windows PC?

It can enable local privilege escalation: an attacker who already has a foothold as a non-administrator may be able to make privileged operations run attacker-controlled content or affect protected files. SecurityWeek reports demonstrated outcomes that included writing to protected Windows locations and causing a system crash. The CVE record’s CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.5 (High); its vector specifies local attack, low complexity, low privileges required, no user interaction, and high impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The score and vector are recorded at the CVE entry.

“Takeover” describes the potential endpoint impact, not an unauthenticated attack over the internet. The published attack vector is local and requires access to a vulnerable Windows installation; this is not a flaw in JumpCloud’s cloud service that lets a remote stranger directly break into a PC.

Which versions are affected, and which version fixes it?

Remote Assist for Windows version Status
Earlier than 0.317.0 Affected by CVE-2025-34352
0.317.0 or later Fixed

The affected range and fixed release are listed in the CVE record. A November 2025 report lists Remote Assist Agent version 0.319.0, indicating that later releases exist; see JumpCloud’s Remote Assist release notes. JumpCloud describes Remote Assist as a Directory Platform feature for remote desktop access and support in its product overview.

How administrators should patch and verify it

  1. Inventory managed Windows devices. Identify devices with JumpCloud Windows Agents and determine the installed Remote Assist Agent version on each one.
  2. Prioritize versions below 0.317.0. Treat every Remote Assist installation earlier than the fixed release as affected until it has been updated and verified.
  3. Update through JumpCloud’s supported agent lifecycle. Use the organization’s established JumpCloud agent update process to bring the Remote Assist component to 0.317.0 or later. The available advisory information establishes the fixed version but does not specify a universal click-by-click console path, so follow the current instructions for your JumpCloud deployment.
  4. Confirm the result on each endpoint. Check the actual installed Remote Assist Agent version after deployment; do not rely only on an update job being submitted or reported as successful. Record which devices have reached 0.317.0 or later and follow up on offline or failed devices.
  5. Review relevant endpoint events. Look for unexpected files or crashes around Remote Assist update or uninstall activity. Escalate suspicious findings through your organization’s incident-response process.

What to do if a device cannot be updated immediately

The established remediation is to install Remote Assist 0.317.0 or later. If a device remains on an earlier version, prioritize its update and manage its exposure under your organization’s endpoint-security and incident-response procedures. The available vulnerability information does not establish a separate workaround that can be relied on as a substitute for the fixed release.
