Yes. Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] opened at No. 1 in Famitsu’s Japanese software estimate for October 5–11, 2026. The Nintendo Switch 2 version sold an estimated 23,411 units, while the PS5 version added 6,261, for 29,672 across both platforms. That was enough to beat second-place Rhythm Heaven Groove, but the result was a relatively modest opening for a major role-playing franchise rather than a blockbuster launch.
How many copies did Kingdom Hearts Collection sell in Japan?

Was the Kingdom Hearts collection’s debut actually slow?
“Slow” is best understood as a relative description. The collection won a quiet chart week, but its absolute opening was modest for such a prominent franchise. Nintendo Life characterized the week as quiet and described the debut as “not all that many sales.” No available figure establishes this as the series’ historical low or a franchise sales record.

Why No. 1 does not mean blockbuster
The Switch 2 version’s 23,411 units were enough to create a clear lead, yet the margin reflects subdued overall demand in the week. Second-place Rhythm Heaven Groove sold 14,527 units, meaning the leading SKU moved 8,884 more copies. The combined two-platform total is more informative than the ranking alone: 29,672 units across Switch 2 and PS5 is a modest launch for a high-profile collection.
Did Switch 2 or PS5 sell more copies?
Switch 2 sold substantially more. Its 23,411-unit opening was about 3.7 times the PS5 edition’s 6,261 units, and it placed first while the PS5 release placed fifth. Both versions were released on October 8, so the difference is a platform split rather than a staggered launch.

Platform share of the debut
- Nintendo Switch 2: 23,411 units, approximately 79 percent of the two-platform total.
- PS5: 6,261 units, approximately 21 percent.
The Switch 2 result also arrived on Japan’s strongest hardware platform for the same week. Famitsu estimated 22,420 Switch 2 systems sold, compared with 11,911 systems across the PS5 family. That hardware context helps explain why the Switch 2 SKU led, although hardware sales alone cannot measure how many owners bought the collection.
What games followed Kingdom Hearts in the Famitsu chart?
The rest of the top 10 shows that the collection’s victory came in a mixed, relatively low-volume week for new releases.

For software, Famitsu combines packaged games, download cards and preinstalled versions. Consequently, the Kingdom Hearts figures should be described as estimated Japanese market units for the reporting week. They do not establish digital-only sales, worldwide performance, sell-through rate, revenue or a definitive historical low for the franchise.
What does the chart result mean?
The collection achieved the immediate objective of topping Japan’s weekly chart, led by a strong Switch 2 contribution. At the same time, the 29,672-unit two-platform opening and the week’s low second-place total show why the result should be called a modest or slow start rather than an unqualified blockbuster. Longer-term performance will depend on sales after launch week, which this single estimate does not provide.
