Reports from October 2–3, 2026 describe Israeli settlers attacking Palestinian olive harvesters in and around Beita, south of Nablus. The available reporting also says journalists covering the October 3 incident were detained, but does not establish that soldiers physically assaulted reporters. Those claims should not be conflated.

What was reported in Beita

WAFA reported that settlers attacked Palestinian farmers harvesting olives in Beita on the morning of October 3, after an attack the previous day in the Jabal al-Arma/Qammas area. Its October 3 report excerpt does not provide a casualty count for that incident. WAFA’s October 3 report.

Separately, the Times of Israel described footage from October 2 showing an armed settler confronting Palestinians and accompanying activists, as well as separate footage of soldiers alongside an armed settler rounding up Palestinians. The outlet’s account describes what appeared in the footage; the reports available here do not independently establish every participant’s identity or motive. Times of Israel’s report.

Injuries reported on October 2

WAFA reported that three Palestinians were injured in settler attacks on olive harvesters across several communities in Nablus governorate on October 2, including Beita and Deir Sharaf. That is a multi-community total for October 2, not a confirmed count for the separate October 3 incident. WAFA’s October 2 injury report.

What is known about the journalists

An October 3 report by IMEMC says forces detained several journalists covering the attack. The material available does not identify those journalists or substantiate a physical assault on them. Detention, obstruction of reporting, and physical assault are different claims; only the reported detention is supported by the cited account here. IMEMC’s report.

How the incidents fit the olive-harvest season

OCHA’s figures show that attacks affecting Palestinians and their property rose sharply during the 2025 olive-harvest season, but the measures cover different periods and should not be treated as directly interchangeable:

October 2025: Israeli settler attacks resulting in casualties, property damage, or both across the West Bank, according to OCHA 264; OCHA said this was the highest monthly total since its recording began in 2006

The first figure covers a two-month span and is relayed by WAFA as an OCHA figure; the second is OCHA’s monthly total. Neither is a count of the October 2026 incidents. OCHA’s October 2025 situation update.

WAFA also reported that the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission counted 2,051 attacks against Palestinians and their land and property in September 2026: 1,404 attributed to Israeli forces and 647 to settlers. This is the commission’s count as reported by WAFA, rather than an independently verified tally in the incident reporting. WAFA’s October 3 report.
