The latest located report lists Tennessee running back Javin Gordon as doubtful for the Oct. 3, 2026, game against Auburn—not questionable. Volquest reported Friday that he had been doubtful for a third straight day, but the final game-day designation has not been confirmed in the available reporting. Check the official availability report for the final status.
What is Javin Gordon’s status for Tennessee vs. Auburn?
Volquest’s Oct. 2 report said Gordon remained doubtful for a third consecutive day and anticipated one final availability update around 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 3. That expected update is not confirmation of the final designation; the sources available here do not establish whether he was ultimately cleared to play or ruled out. Read Volquest’s report.
The game is Tennessee’s Week 5 matchup with Auburn in Knoxville on Oct. 3, according to Tennessee’s official media center. For a confirmed game-day answer, consult the final SEC availability report rather than treating the earlier doubtful designation as final.
Why reports say “doubtful” rather than “questionable”
Gordon’s designation changed during the two game weeks covered by the reports. Volquest reported on Sept. 25 that he was questionable on the Wednesday and Thursday availability reports ahead of Tennessee’s Sept. 26 game against Texas. In its Week 5 reporting, Vols Wire listed him as doubtful in the initial Tennessee-Auburn report on Oct. 1, and Volquest still described him as doubtful on Oct. 2. Volquest’s coverage and Vols Wire’s report provide that context.

“Questionable” therefore reflects an earlier report, not the latest located designation for Auburn week. Neither label is a diagnosis or a quantified probability of playing.
Who is Javin Gordon?
Tennessee’s official roster identifies Gordon as a sophomore running back wearing No. 6. He is from Toccoa, Georgia, and transferred from Tulane. See Tennessee’s roster.

What is known about the injury?
Volquest’s Sept. 25 report said Gordon missed the previous game against Kennesaw State after an injury in the Georgia Tech game. The available reporting does not establish his exact diagnosis, the injury’s severity, or a recovery timetable. A doubtful designation alone cannot answer those medical questions.
