No public release or currently announced test is confirmed. KRAFTON said on September 30, 2026, that it had ended development of PUBG: Black Budget. Steam still shows the game’s page and a “Request Access” control, but also says “This game is not yet available on Steam” and lists its release as “To be announced.” The page’s continued presence does not establish that the game is playable or that access is open.
What happened to PUBG: Black Budget?
The official PUBG: Black Budget team announcement on September 30, 2026, says: “We have therefore made the difficult decision to end development of PUBG: Black Budget.” The team said it reached that decision after reviewing the project’s development status and future direction. Read the official Steam announcement feed.
The Steam listing describes Black Budget as an extraction shooter, identifies PUBG Corporation as the developer and KRAFTON, Inc. as the publisher, and still displays “To be announced” as the release date. It also says “This game is not yet available on Steam.” Check the Steam store listing.
Can you play it now?
The official sources cited here do not announce a current playable test, public release, or new route to access the game. The last cited closed alpha was scheduled for June 26–29, 2026, before the development-ending announcement. That is a historical test window, not an invitation to join now. Check the official announcement feed for dated test notices.

Whether an already-installed test client still launches, or whether every later test permission was revoked, is not established by the cited post-cancellation notice. Do not treat an old client or an access control on the store page as proof of current access.
What to check before downloading or requesting access
- Read the latest official announcement. Open the official announcement feed, check the date, and read the latest status notice. The September 30, 2026, update says development ended.
- Check the actual Steam availability wording. A listing can remain visible even when its game is not available. Black Budget’s page says “This game is not yet available on Steam” and shows “To be announced” for the release date; its “Request Access” control alone does not confirm an open test.
- Look for a current test schedule and eligibility details. A valid invitation should have a dated window and explain who can participate. The cited second alpha ended June 29, 2026. An earlier official alpha closure notice said access was disabled after that test ended; neither notice is a current invitation.
- Be cautious with unofficial downloads, keys, and mirrors. The official sources cited here do not announce a purchasable version or a current download route. Use official channels and do not treat a third-party claim as confirmation. This does not establish that every third-party offer is fraudulent; it means the cited official status does not verify one.
- Do not upgrade a PC based on old test requirements. The June 2026 specifications applied to that closed test, not a current release or an assurance of future compatibility.
Historical PC requirements for the June 2026 test
The official June 2026 test notice listed these minimum requirements. They are included only to identify the old test’s requirements, not to recommend a purchase or upgrade. See the official test schedule and requirements notice.

What remains unknown after development ended?
The September 30 announcement says development ended, but it does not state that servers were shut down, that all playtest permissions were revoked, or that installed test clients no longer launch. The official notices establish that the December 2025 alpha ended with access disabled and that the June 2026 alpha had a scheduled end date; they do not resolve every client or permission’s status after the later development update. Check for a newer service or access notice before relying on any old installation.
An independent Inven Global report dated September 30, 2026, also reported that development ended, but its English version says it was translated from Korean with AI assistance and edited by an English-speaking editor. For the cancellation wording, the primary source is the official Steam announcement. The report is available at Inven Global.
