Not conclusively. The 2024 story that NVIDIA was stopping RTX 3060 production was based on reporting attributed to a Chinese hardware forum, and the sources available do not include an NVIDIA announcement confirming a production stop. In June 2026, PC Gamer reported that new RTX 3060 12 GB production-run cards had reached European retail. That report indicates a return in one market, not current stock everywhere or an official NVIDIA production update.
What happened to the RTX 3060 production story?
The discontinuation claim dates to 2024. TechSpot reported that NVIDIA was discontinuing the RTX 3060, citing information attributed to a Chinese hardware forum; the sources available do not include a public NVIDIA confirmation of that production stop. Read TechSpot’s 2024 report.
The picture later became less clear-cut: on June 30, 2026, PC Gamer reported that new production-run RTX 3060 12 GB cards had reached European retail. This is secondary reporting about a specific configuration and market. It does not establish that NVIDIA resumed or continued production everywhere, that cards remain in stock in October 2026, or that the company has publicly confirmed the timeline. Read PC Gamer’s report on the European retail appearance.
Is the RTX 3060 still popular?
It remains well represented among respondents to Valve’s Steam Hardware & Software Survey. Valve’s August 2026 survey lists the RTX 3060 at 3.92% of surveyed video cards, up from 3.88% in July. These figures describe participating Steam users, not worldwide ownership, sales, or the share of all computer users with the card. See Valve’s video-card survey.

NVIDIA announced the RTX 3060 on January 12, 2021, as an Ampere GPU with ray tracing and DLSS support. The company’s stated launch starting price was $329, a historical figure rather than a current price guide. NVIDIA’s launch announcement also described 60-class GPUs as traditionally the most popular cards among Steam gamers; that is company language from 2021, not evidence that the RTX 3060 leads the current survey. The RTX 3060 name alone does not guarantee a particular memory configuration, condition, warranty, or physical fit. NVIDIA’s family page covers the RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti; verify the exact board-partner model and listing details rather than relying on the family name. Check NVIDIA’s RTX 3060 family page.

- Price and local availability: Compare the price with current alternatives where you live; the original $329 launch price is not a current benchmark.
- Physical fit: Check the specific card’s dimensions and power requirements against your case and power supply.
- Performance evidence: Seek benchmarks for the exact model and games or workloads you care about. The reports cited here do not provide a new independent benchmark comparison.
