What is the current Google student offer?
Google calls it the “Google One Student Offer.” The current terms describe subscription benefits at no charge for a promoted 12-month period beginning on the day the offer is redeemed. The offer must be redeemed by December 31, 2026, under the terms Google updated August 19, 2026. Read Google’s current student offer terms.
The included Google AI plan depends on the country or region of the eligible institution. Google’s terms do not establish one plan name, feature set, or post-offer price that applies everywhere. Check the offer displayed for your account and location before enrolling.
Why does an older page say Spring 2026?
An earlier version of Google’s offer terms, last updated January 12, 2026, gave April 30, 2026 as the redemption deadline. That date has passed. The newer terms, updated August 19, 2026, set December 31, 2026 instead. These are different offer iterations; the newer deadline does not mean every student or location has the same offer or access. Who can qualify?
Google’s current terms require all of the following:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are enrolled at a higher-education institution in a supported country or region.
- You successfully verify student status through SheerID.
- You use a personal Google Account, not a school-issued Workspace for Education account.
- You have a Google Payments account with a qualifying payment method at signup.
The offer is also excluded for people in a family group, enterprise purchasers, discounted Pixel bundle subscribers, certain Google One subscribers billed through third parties or affiliates such as Google Fi, and supervised Google Accounts. Because supported institutions and plan details can vary by location, check the current terms and the offer shown during signup.

Will Google charge you after the free period?
Unless applicable law requires consent, Google’s terms allow the payment method on file to be automatically charged the standard monthly subscription price for the applicable plan and country when the 12-month offer period ends. The subscription continues until canceled. Google does not state a universal renewal price in these terms, so review the amount shown for your location and account.
To avoid a standard monthly charge, cancel before the offer period ends. Google says you can cancel at any time; cancellation during the free period may leave the membership active until that period ends. See the current terms for the renewal and cancellation conditions.

What to check before redeeming or canceling
Before signing up
- Confirm the current redemption deadline and that the specific institution and location are supported.
- Verify that the offer shown to you identifies the plan and benefits you will receive.
- Note the renewal price displayed at signup and the date the 12-month period ends.
- Make sure you can use a personal Google Account and provide the required payment method.
Before the offer period ends
- Cancel in time if you do not want to continue at the applicable standard monthly price.
- Check your Google Account storage usage. If you cancel while over the storage limit, Google says you must delete files or purchase a membership; until the issue is resolved, you cannot store anything new.
Google also warns that usage limits for the student offer may differ from those for paid members and may change without notice, including because of capacity constraints. Do not assume the offer has identical usage limits to a paid plan.
