That snapshot does not guarantee that every ChatGPT feature, plan, region, or individual account is working normally; check the live status page for the latest update.
Is ChatGPT down right now?
At the time checked, OpenAI Status reported: “We’re fully operational” and “We’re not aware of any issues affecting our systems.” You can see the current report at OpenAI Status. Because service conditions can change, refresh the page when you are experiencing a problem rather than treating this timestamped check as a live guarantee.
What was the latest reported ChatGPT issue?
The latest surfaced ChatGPT incident in OpenAI’s reviewed history was “Issues with data analysis and file creation in ChatGPT” on October 2, 2026. OpenAI’s incident report records the issue as resolved at 4:51 p.m. on October 2 and says impacted services had fully recovered. It concerned specific tasks—running code, analyzing data, or creating files—not necessarily every ChatGPT conversation or account.
Why might ChatGPT still not work for you?
A normal aggregate status can coexist with a problem affecting a narrower part of the service. OpenAI says its availability metrics are aggregated across tiers, models, and error types, and that an individual customer’s availability may vary with subscription tier and the model or API features used. Its incident history also includes resolved incidents involving particular functions, plans, or regions.

- Your favorite music and content – Play music, audiobooks, and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and others or via Bluetooth throughout your home.
- Alexa is happy to help – Ask Alexa for weather updates and to set hands-free timers, get answers to your questions and even hear jokes. Need a few extra minutes in the morning? Just tap your Echo Dot to snooze your alarm.
- Keep your home comfortable – Control compatible smart home devices with your voice and routines triggered by built-in motion or indoor temperature sensors. Create routines to automatically turn on lights when you walk into a room, or start a fan if the inside temperature goes above your comfort zone.
- Do more with device pairing – Fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms, or create a home theatre system with Fire TV.
- Say goodbye to drop-offs and buffering - With eero Built-in, Echo Dot doubles as a mesh wifi extender, adding up to 1,000 sq. ft. of wifi coverage to your existing eero network.
To describe what is happening accurately, identify the affected scope rather than assuming ChatGPT is wholly down:
- Symptom: Is the problem with signing in, sending conversations, uploading or analyzing files, image generation, or another feature?
- Account scope: Does it occur with one plan or model, or across the options you can access?
- Reach: Is it limited to your experience, or does OpenAI report an incident affecting a broader group?
- Timing: Is the issue still listed as ongoing, or has OpenAI marked it resolved?
What to do if the status page says everything is operational
- Check OpenAI Status: Visit status.openai.com and read both the current status and any active incident details.
- Check the history for a feature-specific incident: Review OpenAI Status History if the problem concerns a particular feature, plan, or region.
- Describe the failing task precisely: Note whether login, ordinary conversations, files, image generation, or another function is affected, and whether a particular plan or model is involved.
- Check again later: Compare your experience with the status page again, since an incident may be posted, updated, or resolved after your first check.
A green status page is useful evidence about OpenAI’s reported overall systems, but it does not establish the cause of an individual failure. Without an official incident matching your symptoms, the available status information alone cannot show whether the cause is local or service-side.
