There is evidence that AI data centers are straining parts of NVIDIA’s supply chain, and there is evidence that Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed twice. But the available statements do not connect those facts: Rockstar has attributed the extra time to its quality and polish goals, and NVIDIA’s filing does not say AI demand caused a game’s schedule to slip.

What caused GTA 6’s delays, according to Rockstar?

Rockstar announced two changes to the game’s planned release date:

  • On May 2, 2025, Rockstar moved the launch from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. It said it needed more time “to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
  • On November 6, 2025, Rockstar moved the date again, to November 19, 2026. The company said the extra months would let it finish the game with the polish players expected.

Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, supported the first schedule change. CEO Strauss Zelnick said the additional time would help Rockstar realize its creative vision. Neither Take-Two’s statement nor Rockstar’s announcements attributed the delays to GPU shortages or AI demand.

Is AI demand putting pressure on GPU supply?

There is a separate, documented pressure in the market for data-center hardware. In its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 26, 2026, NVIDIA said accelerated computing and AI data-center products drove revenue growth in the first half of fiscal 2027. The filing also described supply constraints for its Blackwell and Vera Rubin data-center systems, alongside infrastructure limits such as land, power, and construction capacity that could delay customer and partner deployments.

That filing concerns NVIDIA’s data-center business and the infrastructure needed to deploy those systems. It does not establish that consumer gaming GPUs are being diverted from game development, nor that AI-related supply constraints caused Rockstar to change GTA 6’s schedule. The available evidence therefore does not support the broader claim that AI is delaying GTA 6 or other games.

What platforms are confirmed for GTA 6?

Rockstar’s support page, last updated August 18, 2026, lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The page does not list a PC version or PC system requirements, so it would be premature to recommend a particular graphics card for playing GTA 6 on PC.

For players considering PlayStation, Sony’s June 2026 PlayStation Blog highlights DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers, controller audio, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and the PS5 SSD as parts of the PS5 experience. Those are Sony’s descriptions of its platform features, not evidence that PS5 is objectively superior to Xbox for this game.

What does the physical edition include?

Rockstar says the physical version contains a digital download code in the box, not a game disc. It also notes that code-region restrictions apply, so check that a code’s region matches the region associated with your platform account before buying.
