Tom’s Guide reported on July 7, 2026, that leaker Jon Prosser predicted a light-purple finish described as “closer to lavender,” replacing the current model’s Sky Blue in the rumored lineup. Neither the iPhone Air 2 nor its colors have been announced by Apple.
What the iPhone Air 2 purple rumor says
According to Tom’s Guide’s July 7, 2026 report, Prosser’s video predicted a light-purple Air 2 finish. The report says he described the shade as “closer to lavender” and that it would replace Sky Blue. That is a reported leak, not a confirmed Apple color name or final specification.
Tom’s Guide also listed Space Black, Cloud White and Light Gold as other predicted finishes. All four colors belong to the same unannounced lineup; there are no confirmed Air 2 color options to compare. Apple could change the colors, names or product plans before any launch.
When could the iPhone Air 2 launch?
Reports disagree, so a launch date is not established. Tom’s Guide said Prosser predicted a spring release. Earlier, on January 30, 2026, MacRumors reported that Nikkei Asia, citing people familiar with Apple’s supply chain, said a second-generation Air was not expected in 2026 and might arrive in 2027. These are conflicting reports, not an Apple schedule.

Prosser’s reported predictions also included an A20 chip, a 48-megapixel ultrawide camera and increased battery capacity. These remain leak claims, not confirmed Air 2 specifications. Tom’s Guide noted that Prosser did not name sources and that the product was still months away.
What Apple has confirmed
Apple’s iPhone Air product page describes the current iPhone Air; it does not confirm a second generation, the purple rumor or any Air 2 specifications. Current-model information should not be treated as a preview of the sequel. In the sources cited here, Apple has not confirmed the rumored purple finish.
