Instagram’s Reels Play Bonus is no longer active. Meta’s official help page says the bonus programme has ended. That means there is no current, general-purpose “Turn on Reels Bonus” switch, no public application form, and no follower target that unlocks it.
If you are trying to monetize Reels, you can still check whether your professional account has another monetization product or an account-specific offer. However, a large view count, viral Reel, or Creator account does not automatically qualify you for the former Reels Play programme.
What happened to the Instagram Reels Bonus?
The programme commonly called the Instagram Reels Play Bonus was an invitation-only incentive that paid eligible creators according to the terms of an active bonus deal. Meta stopped extending new and renewed Reels Play deals in the United States and India on March 9, 2023. Existing deals were honoured only until their expiry dates.
Meta now states that the bonus programme is no longer active. Consequently, articles or videos promising a current universal Reels Bonus application, activation button, fixed payment per 1,000 views, or automatic payment for every Reel are describing an old flow or making an unsupported claim.

Can you still activate Instagram Reels Bonus?
No. There is no verified current Meta path for activating a new Reels Play Bonus. When the programme operated, access depended on an invitation. An eligible creator would see the offer in an in-app pop-up and in the Professional Dashboard, together with the applicable terms and bonus period.
These actions do not independently create eligibility:
- Reaching 1,000, 5,000, or 10,000 followers
- Getting a particular number of Reel views
- Switching to a professional account
- Posting a viral Reel
- Applying through a third-party website or “bonus activation” service
Do not give a website your Instagram password or pay someone who claims they can enable the old programme. There is no general public activation process to sell.
How to check for available bonus or monetization offers
You can still inspect your account for any currently available monetization products or account-specific notices:

- Open the Instagram app.
- Tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap Professional Dashboard near the top of your profile.
- Look for Bonuses, if that option is displayed.
- Review any offer’s eligibility rules, dates, content requirements, and payout information before accepting it.
Meta’s documented path for viewing bonus information is Professional Dashboard → Bonuses. If you do not see Bonuses, that does not prove the app is broken. It usually means that your account has no applicable offer, the product is unavailable to your account, or the old Reels Play programme is being mistaken for another monetization feature.
Why is “Bonuses” not showing on Instagram?

Check whether your account is professional
The Professional Dashboard appears for Creator and Business accounts. If your profile is personal, you may not see monetization tools or the dashboard.
- Open your Instagram profile.
- Tap the three-line menu.
- Open Settings and activity.
- Scroll to For professionals.
- Open Account type and tools.
- Use the option to switch to a professional account if it suits your needs, then choose Creator or Business.
This may expose professional tools, but it does not bring back Reels Play or guarantee eligibility for any monetization product.

If you had an active deal in the past, not every view necessarily counted. Meta’s published rules excluded or penalized several types of content:

- A Reel claimed by another rights holder
- Branded content
- Content in an unsupported language
- A Reel containing a third-party watermark, name, or logo
- Fraudulent or artificially boosted engagement
- A permanently deleted Reel
Meta also stated that three Reels-violation strikes could make a creator unable to earn from Reels Play bonuses for at least 30 days. Permanently deleting a Reel could remove credit for the plays it had already received.
These rules matter when checking historical earnings. A Reel having many public views did not necessarily mean that those views were eligible bonus plays.
How the old payout system worked
Reels Play earnings were tied to the creator’s active deal and its bonus period. Meta determined the amount at the end of the bonus period rather than necessarily displaying a final amount in real time. Earnings were generally paid the following month, subject to the applicable minimum payout requirement.

If the minimum was not reached, Meta stated that no bonus payout would be issued, although the creator might be invited to another opportunity in the future. Meta did not publish one universal per-view rate, guaranteed RPM, fixed payout formula, or follower threshold for the programme.

Therefore, a calculator claiming that every 100,000 views equals a fixed amount cannot reliably represent the old programme, much less a current one.
What to do if you believe an active monetization offer is missing
- Update Instagram from the App Store or Google Play, then reopen the app. This can resolve an ordinary display problem, but it cannot restore a discontinued programme.
- Confirm the account type. Monetization support and the Professional Dashboard are limited to Creator and Business accounts.
- Check the dashboard. Go to Profile → Professional Dashboard and inspect Bonuses, monetization status, and any policy notices.
- Complete payout setup. If an active product is visible, follow its payout instructions before expecting payment.
- Review Account Status. Look for content or recommendation restrictions that could affect eligibility.
- Contact Meta through the app. Use the Professional Dashboard’s support options or Meta’s monetization-support contact form. Include your username, account type, screenshots, the date the offer disappeared, and the exact name of the product.
Support can investigate an account-specific offer or payment issue. It cannot be used to apply for the discontinued Reels Play programme.
Ways to monetize Reels now
Since Reels Play is inactive, treat Reels primarily as a way to build an audience and direct viewers toward monetization methods that are actually offered to your account. Depending on your location, account status, and eligibility, check Instagram’s current Professional Dashboard for available products such as subscriptions, gifts, branded-content tools, or other Meta programmes.
Availability and requirements vary. Do not assume that another product has the same rules as Reels Play, and read the terms shown in your own dashboard. You can also use Reels to support revenue outside the bonus system, including affiliate links, services, digital products, memberships, or sponsored campaigns—while following Instagram’s disclosure and intellectual-property rules.

How do I turn on Reels Bonus?
You cannot activate a new Reels Play Bonus through a general setting or application. The former programme was invitation-only and is no longer generally active.
Why is Bonuses missing from my Professional Dashboard?
Your account may have no active offer, may be a personal account, may have an expired deal, or may not have access to the relevant monetization product. The absence of Bonuses is not by itself proof of an app error.
