For a PC player choosing today, Shredders is the practical choice because it is playable now. HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate is still listed as “Coming soon” on Steam, with no firm release date. The more interesting choice is between Shredders’ existing, mountain-focused experience and HYPERyuki’s announced arcade package: fast racing, trick scoring, challenge modes, local split-screen and online multiplayer.

That makes this a provisional comparison rather than a final quality verdict. HYPERyuki has not launched, and Steam currently has no user-review consensus for it. You can judge its design and hardware requirements, but not its final handling, performance or content quality until a public build is available.

Quick verdict

Choose Shredders if you want to snowboard on PC immediately. Its currently available package centers on an explorable mountain with parks, rails, kickers, buttering, story missions and online co-op. The game’s Steam release date was March 16, 2022, as reported by iTechGuides in 2026.

Choose HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate if you specifically want the announced arcade direction and are willing to wait. Its Steam listing promises a colorful, score-driven snowboarder with 11 riders, 47 boards, solo play, four-player local split-screen, full online multiplayer, challenge modes and endless exploration. The official description calls it “the modern SSX, arcade snowboarding experience fans have been waiting for,” while the publisher describes it as inspired by “SSX and Jet Grind Radio.” Those are design goals, not evidence of a finished game.

There is no defensible answer that HYPERyuki is already “better.” It is unreleased, its launch date is unconfirmed, and there are no independent reviews to test the announced features. The decision today is therefore simple: Shredders now; HYPERyuki later if its arcade feature set is the one you want.

HYPERyuki and Shredders are aiming at different kinds of snowboarding

HYPERyuki: arcade speed, tricks and scores

HYPERyuki is presented as an arcade snowboard game rather than a measured mountain journey. Its announced priorities are speed, style, racing, trick mastery, score chasing and exploration. The combination matters: a run is expected to be something you repeat to improve a line, extend a trick sequence or beat a score, not merely a route from the top of a mountain to the bottom.

The setting is similarly stylized. The official Steam copy names Tokyo, Hokkaido, Canada and Mexico as inspirations for different mountain environments. That suggests a game built around distinct visual and course identities rather than one continuous alpine region, although the final structure and size of those areas have not been confirmed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

HYPERyuki also advertises a substantial selection of playable equipment: 11 riders and 47 boards. The listing does not establish how those riders differ, whether boards have numerical attributes, or how much of the roster is available at the start. Treat the figures as the announced breadth of the roster, not a promise that every item changes handling in a particular way.

Shredders: an explorable mountain and co-op sessions

Shredders is described around a mountain you can explore, with parks, rails, kickers and buttering alongside story missions. That structure gives the game a sense of place and a progression path: you can move through the mountain, find features and complete missions instead of treating every run solely as a score attempt.

Its online co-op is the key multiplayer emphasis in the available description. Shredders is playable now, so its mountain, missions and online functionality can be evaluated in the released product rather than inferred from a feature list. No current official Shredders listing establishes local split-screen support; do not assume it has the same couch-multiplayer design advertised for HYPERyuki.

Feature-by-feature comparison

Comparison point HYPERyuki Shredders What it means for a PC player
Core identity Announced stylized arcade snowboarder focused on speed, style, racing, tricks and scores. Released, mountain-centered snowboard game with parks, rails, kickers, buttering and missions. Pick based on whether you want repeatable arcade challenges or an explorable mountain framework.
World concept Mountain settings inspired by Tokyo, Hokkaido, Canada and Mexico; endless exploration is advertised. An explorable mountain with multiple riding features and mission locations. HYPERyuki promises variety between settings; Shredders provides a known mountain to explore now.
Solo play Explicitly built for solo play, with challenges and score chasing. Story missions and mountain exploration are documented. Both have a solo path, but their progression concepts differ.
Local multiplayer Four-player split-screen is explicitly advertised. No current official Shredders listing states local split-screen support. HYPERyuki is the only one of the two with documented couch multiplayer.
Online multiplayer Full online multiplayer is advertised. Online co-op is described. Both target online sessions, but HYPERyuki’s final implementation cannot yet be tested.
Riders and boards 11 riders and 47 boards listed on Steam. Comparable roster figures not stated. HYPERyuki has the larger explicitly quantified customization promise.
Controller support Full controller support; the listing recommends using a controller. No current official Shredders listing states equivalent controller details. A controller is the documented input choice for HYPERyuki.
PC requirements Minimum and recommended specifications are listed below. Shredders’ current store listing does not provide a directly comparable requirements table. Do not infer Shredders’ requirements from HYPERyuki’s numbers.

What HYPERyuki’s announced modes mean

Solo play and challenge modes

The Steam listing explicitly says HYPERyuki is built for solo play. Challenge modes and score chasing point toward short, repeatable objectives: improving a time, linking tricks, finding a stronger route or beating a previous score. The listing does not specify the number of challenges, their unlock rules or whether scores are global, friends-only or local. Those details should be treated as unknown until the developer documents them.

Four-player local split-screen

Four-player split-screen chaos is one of HYPERyuki’s clearest differentiators. The official copy says the game is “built for solo play, 4-player split-screen chaos, and full online multiplayer.” For a living-room session, that is a meaningful advantage on paper: one PC and a suitable display can support a shared race or challenge without requiring four separate systems.

Local multiplayer still depends on final implementation. The announcement does not state whether every mode supports four players, whether all players need controllers, or how split-screen affects performance. Plan for each participant to have a controller because the listing recommends controller play and documents full controller support.

Online multiplayer

HYPERyuki advertises full online multiplayer, while Shredders is described as supporting online co-op. “Full online multiplayer” is broader wording than a single co-op mode, but it does not establish the exact race types, player count, matchmaking, cross-play or private-lobby tools. Those are practical questions that cannot be answered from the current announcement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Endless exploration

Endless exploration is part of HYPERyuki’s announced package. It suggests a reason to continue riding after completing a challenge: search for routes, practice lines and discover areas across its themed settings. The phrase does not define map size, procedural generation, limits or whether “endless” refers to a mode with continuous riding. Do not read more technical detail into it than the listing provides.

It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.

How the trick and progression philosophies differ

In HYPERyuki, tricks and speed appear to be the center of the loop. A player is likely to approach a run as a performance: select a route, build momentum, hit features, link tricks and chase a better score. The announced arcade framing supports that interpretation, but no public build is available to verify the physics, trick inputs, combo rules or scoring multipliers.

Shredders’ documented features put the mountain itself alongside tricks. Parks, rails, kickers and buttering give you objects and terrain to ride, while story missions provide authored goals. That can appeal to players who want a sequence of activities in a coherent environment rather than a pure leaderboard routine. The available information does not establish a numerical scoring system or a deeper progression tree for Shredders, so avoid assuming it matches HYPERyuki’s challenge emphasis.

The practical distinction is about motivation. If you replay a course to optimize every movement, HYPERyuki’s announced design is the closer fit. If you prefer traveling through a mountain, finding features and completing missions with other riders, Shredders has the clearer existing structure.

Multiplayer: split-screen versus online co-op

Choose HYPERyuki for documented couch play

HYPERyuki is the straightforward choice for a group sharing one screen because four-player local split-screen is explicitly listed. That is unusual enough to make it a deciding feature for parties, family play or a gaming room where everyone wants to ride from the same PC. Until launch, however, the number of supported modes, display requirements and performance impact remain unverified.

Choose Shredders for an available online session

Shredders’ online co-op is the safer option when your group wants to play now. You can use the released game rather than waiting for a release date or hoping that an announced service is operational. Shredders’ current listing does not specify the co-op player limit, cross-platform support or whether all missions permit co-op, so check the current game listing for those details before organizing a large group.

Do not treat the two online descriptions as identical

“Online multiplayer” and “online co-op” do not promise the same activity. HYPERyuki’s wording could encompass competitive races, shared challenges or other modes, but the final mode list is not available. Shredders’ wording specifically establishes cooperative play. Compare the exact mode you want—competitive racing, shared exploration or mission co-op—rather than assuming either game covers all three.

Controller support and PC input

HYPERyuki’s Steam listing documents full controller support and recommends a controller. For a snowboard game built around steering, balance, tricks and rapid camera adjustments, that recommendation is useful practical guidance: budget for a PC gaming controller if you do not already own one. The listing does not identify a particular controller model, connection standard or button layout.

Keyboard and mouse support is not established by the supplied information, so do not promise that every trick or menu works equally well with those devices. A controller recommendation is not the same as a requirement, but it is the only documented input guidance for HYPERyuki.

No current official Shredders listing provides equivalent controller details. That absence is not evidence that the game lacks controller support; it simply means a directly cited specification is not available here. Check the current Shredders store page or in-game settings before buying a controller solely for it.

HYPERyuki PC requirements

These are the specifications listed for HYPERyuki. They are manufacturer/store requirements, not a performance test. Meeting the minimum does not establish a target frame rate, resolution or graphics preset.

Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 10 Not separately stated; the listing’s recommended tier is paired with the same Windows requirement.
Processor Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
Memory 8 GB RAM 8 GB RAM
Graphics Nvidia GTX 750, AMD Radeon HD 7850 or Intel Arc A370M-class graphics Nvidia GTX 1070, AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 or Intel Arc A750-class graphics

The graphics list spans older desktop cards and Intel Arc examples, so model names alone do not tell you the eventual frame rate. Resolution, texture settings, storage space, DirectX version and target performance are not stated in the supplied requirements. If your PC is close to the minimum, wait for launch reports before assuming it will handle split-screen or online sessions comfortably.

Is Shredders worth playing while you wait for HYPERyuki?

Yes, if your immediate goal is to play a PC snowboarding game rather than to experience HYPERyuki specifically. Shredders supplies a released mountain, parks, rails, kickers, buttering, story missions and online co-op. Those are enough to form a complete reason to play without relying on an unreleased promise.

Shredders is not a substitute for every announced HYPERyuki feature. The available product information does not establish four-player split-screen, an 11-rider/47-board roster, themed locations inspired by Tokyo, Hokkaido, Canada and Mexico, or HYPERyuki’s specific arcade challenge structure in Shredders. Buy or play it for its own mountain-and-missions design, not as a guaranteed preview of how HYPERyuki will feel.

Waiting may still be the better decision if your must-have feature is local multiplayer, if you want the most overtly arcade presentation, or if you do not want to learn one game while anticipating another. Since HYPERyuki has no firm date, that wait has no published endpoint; a wishlist is the only confirmed way to track its status without claiming a launch schedule.

Who should choose which game?

Your priority Better fit Reason
Play on PC immediately Shredders It is released and currently playable; HYPERyuki is still marked “Coming soon.”
Arcade racing, trick chains and score chasing HYPERyuki, once released Those are its announced design priorities, but handling and scoring remain unverified.
Explore a mountain with authored missions Shredders Its described structure includes an explorable mountain, parks, features and story missions.
Four people on one screen HYPERyuki, once released Four-player local split-screen is explicitly advertised; Shredders’ local support is not stated.
Online co-op today Shredders Its online co-op belongs to a released game.
Large announced equipment roster HYPERyuki, once released Steam lists 11 riders and 47 boards.
Buy hardware based on published requirements Neither yet as a cross-game decision HYPERyuki has listed requirements, but Shredders’ directly cited table is not available here; HYPERyuki’s figures do not predict Shredders’ performance.

What is still unknown about HYPERyuki

Several questions matter to a purchase but cannot be answered responsibly before launch:

  • The release date and final launch platforms beyond the listed PC storefront information.
  • How the 11 riders and 47 boards differ in handling, abilities or progression.
  • The number and type of challenge modes, races and score systems.
  • Whether four-player split-screen works in every mode and what hardware it requires.
  • Online player counts, matchmaking, private lobbies, cross-play and server policies.
  • Keyboard-and-mouse support, remapping options and accessibility settings.
  • Final performance at the minimum and recommended specifications.
  • Launch price, edition structure and any post-launch content.

These are not minor omissions. They determine whether an advertised feature is useful to your group and whether your PC can deliver the experience you expect. Until the game launches, treat the Steam description as a plan for the product, not a review of the finished product.

Bottom line for a PC buyer

Shredders wins the practical comparison because it is available now and offers a documented mountain, riding features, missions and online co-op. HYPERyuki is the more compelling future prospect for players who want an explicitly arcade snowboarder with 11 riders, 47 boards, four-player split-screen and broad online ambitions. Wishlist it if that package matches your priorities, but do not assign it a final quality verdict or a confirmed release date. If you want to ride today, choose Shredders; if you want HYPERyuki’s particular arcade promise, wait for a release and independent reviews before deciding.
