There is no evidence-based universal winner between the Huawei Mate 90 and Samsung’s Galaxy S26 family. Huawei’s published Mate 90 specifications and prices are for China, while the current Samsung lineup information cited here is for the UK. First narrow Samsung’s side to the Galaxy S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra, then check whether the Mate 90 is available, supported, and compatible with your essential apps and carrier in your country.
Which Galaxy S model are you comparing?
“Galaxy S series” covers several models, not one phone. Samsung UK lists the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra as its 2026 range; Samsung announced them on 25 February 2026 and released them on 11 March 2026. Choose the tier and storage configuration you would actually buy before comparing prices, size, or features. The cited lineup information does not provide model-by-model specifications or prices for a direct comparison with the Mate 90. Samsung UK’s Galaxy S26 buying guide can help identify the range.
What the China-market Mate 90 offers
Screen, memory, and cameras
Huawei’s official China specification page lists the standard Mate 90 with a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED display and adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh. It specifies 12 GB of RAM and storage choices of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB. The rear camera system comprises a 50 MP main camera, a 40 MP ultrawide, and a 50 MP telephoto camera. These are published specifications, not comparative test results. Huawei’s Mate 90 specifications are the source for these figures.
Chipset naming needs care
Huawei’s standard Mate 90 specification page identifies its chipset as Kirin 9030. Separately, a Huawei press release describes the series as using a “Tau” chipset and refers to Kirin 9050 Pro. The available materials do not clarify how those names map to specific models or variants, so it would be misleading to treat them as a single confirmed specification. Huawei’s press release contains the series-level wording.

Battery, charging, and durability claims
Huawei advertises a 6,600 mAh battery, 66 W wired charging, third-generation Kunlun glass, and IP68/IP69 protection. These are manufacturer-published claims, not independently measured battery-life or charging results. Huawei’s footnote says the protection ratings derive from controlled laboratory tests, that resistance can diminish with wear, and that liquid damage is not covered by warranty. Huawei’s Mate 90 product page provides the figures and qualifications.
China launch prices are not a local price comparison
Huawei’s China purchase guide lists the following launch prices. Formal sales began on 1 October 2026. These CNY prices are not global street prices and cannot be directly compared with a Galaxy S26 price in another market.

Check the practical deal-breakers in your country
The available specifications do not establish whether the Mate 90 can be purchased with local support in your market, whether it supports your carrier’s required bands, or whether it runs the particular apps and services you rely on. Resolve those points for the exact regional model before choosing. For the Mate 90, confirm:

- That your carrier confirms compatible network bands and service, including any features you need.
- That your essential apps and services work on the phone as sold in your region; check each important app rather than assuming compatibility.
- That the local price, warranty, repair options, and included accessories make sense beside the specific Galaxy S26 tier you are considering.
Samsung’s cited lineup source establishes the UK range and dates, not pricing or availability in every country. Compare local listings and warranty terms for both brands rather than using Huawei’s China launch price as a proxy.
Compare cameras, battery life, and performance with matched evidence
The published Mate 90 megapixel counts and battery capacity do not show how it performs against a Galaxy S26 model in real use. The sources available here do not provide independent, matched camera, battery-endurance, charging, or performance tests. If those factors will decide your purchase, look for tests that compare the exact regional models under the same conditions; do not infer a winner from specifications alone.

Account for accessories and the ecosystem you already use
Huawei depicts a Mate 90 case as a separately purchased accessory. Check the box contents and the availability of a correctly fitting case for the exact model before ordering; local stock is not established. Also consider whether you rely on accessories, services, or connected devices you already own. The cited material does not compare the two brands’ ecosystems, so compatibility should be checked against your own devices and services.

How to make the choice
- Set the comparison: pick Galaxy S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra, and identify the storage tier and country you would buy in.
- Verify the Mate 90 locally: confirm availability, exact model, carrier support, essential-app compatibility, warranty, returns, and repair options with the seller, carrier, and relevant service providers.
- Compare real local costs: include the phone, any separately purchased case, and the warranty or support you would actually receive. Treat Huawei’s CNY figures as China launch prices only.
- Use matched evidence for performance-sensitive priorities: seek same-condition tests of the exact models for camera quality, battery life, charging, and speed.
- Choose based on your must-haves: if the Mate 90’s local support or essential-app compatibility is uncertain, do not treat its listed hardware as proof that it will meet your needs.
