For bringing an existing webpage into Figma, html.to.design is the better-documented, capture-first choice. It supports URL imports as well as browser capture of private or logged-in pages, with documented viewport, theme, and editing options. Choose Builder.io Visual Copilot if the website import is one step in a wider workflow that continues from Figma toward code or Builder Content. There is no independent head-to-head test establishing which produces more faithful imports.

How the tools differ

html.to.design is a Figma plugin and browser extension for turning webpages into editable Figma designs. Its documentation covers importing a public URL and capturing a page from a browser session, including logged-in or private pages. It also describes options such as viewport and theme variants, local styles, auto layout, font handling, and prototype-related interactions.

Builder.io Visual Copilot includes a website-to-Figma workflow: Builder’s March 27, 2025 article describes importing a page by URL or using a Chrome extension to select specific DOM elements. But Visual Copilot is part of a broader design-to-code and content workflow. Builder also documents importing Figma designs into Builder Content. These are distinct directions of travel: importing a website into Figma is not the same task as taking a Figma design toward code.

What to know about accuracy claims

Builder’s March 27, 2025 website-to-Figma article states a typical import accuracy of 80–90%. That is Builder’s own claim, not an independently measured result or a comparison with html.to.design. It can be useful as a vendor’s description of its expected workflow, but it does not settle which tool will reproduce a particular site more faithfully.

Builder’s separate 2023 claim of 50–80% less time concerns converting Figma designs to code, not importing websites into Figma. It should not be used to infer website-import accuracy or speed. The launch article attributes that claim to Builder co-founder and CEO Steve Sewell: Introducing Visual Copilot.

Pricing and plan considerations

html.to.design publishes specific allowances and prices. The vendor’s PRO documentation lists these terms; prices and plan details can change, so check the linked page before purchasing.

html.to.design plan Published price Import allowance
FREE $0 Up to 10 imports every 30 days.
PRO, annual billing $12 per user/month, billed annually Described as unlimited, subject to a fair-use ceiling of 1,000 imports per month.
PRO, monthly billing $18 per user/month, billed monthly Described as unlimited, subject to a fair-use ceiling of 1,000 imports per month.

Builder’s 2025 article describes website import as free and AI design generation as free while in beta. Its current product page associates different Visual Copilot capabilities with Develop or Develop & Publish plans, but the cited sources do not provide one directly comparable current price for the website-import workflow. Confirm current entitlements and prices with Builder before budgeting: website-to-Figma article and product documentation.

How to choose

  • Choose html.to.design when your main job is capturing an existing page and editing the result in Figma, particularly if you need browser-session capture, multiple variants, or documented import limits.
  • Choose Builder.io Visual Copilot when the capture is part of a broader Builder workflow, such as selecting specific elements or continuing from Figma toward code or Builder Content.
  • Test the page you actually need. Neither cited source provides independent comparative fidelity results, and pages can differ in how much of their content depends on session state or interaction.

Important limitations to check

Language support is not translation

html.to.design says it can import language versions that already exist on a site; it does not translate the page. See its multilingual import documentation.

Use Builder’s current Visual Copilot workflow

Builder documentation marks the older Visual Editor feature called “Import your existing site content into Builder” as deprecated and removed. Do not rely on that legacy route; consult the current Visual Copilot workflow instead: legacy import documentation and status.

Alternative for screenshot capture: ScreenshotNeo

If your goal is to capture a webpage as an image or PDF for a developer workflow—not to convert it into editable Figma layers—try ScreenshotNeo first. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server, so it complements rather than replaces a website-to-Figma importer.

One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For example, this cURL request captures a page as WebP:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for API details. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses report the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Sign up free for 1,000 screenshots a month, with no card required.
