Choose html.to.design when you need to bring an existing website into Figma; choose Builder.io when you want to move an approved Figma design toward Builder content or generated code. They solve different workflow problems, so a useful agency comparison starts with the direction of work—not a claim that one is universally better.
What each tool does
html.to.design: an existing website into Figma
html.to.design is a Figma plugin and browser extension for turning web pages into editable Figma designs. Its documentation describes importing public pages by URL, capturing private or logged-in pages with the browser extension, and importing local HTML, HTM, or ZIP files. Other documented capabilities include multiple viewport sizes, light and dark themes, local styles, auto layout, font replacement, multilingual imports, and linked pages for prototypes. It also describes support for overflow, fixed, sticky, and hover behavior. These are documented capabilities, not a guarantee that every page will import perfectly without cleanup. Builder.io: Figma toward Builder content or code
Builder documents workflows that start with selected Figma frames. Its plugin can send designs into Builder Content or Builder Code; Builder Code can generate code from a Figma frame link or plugin export, while Builder Content supports creating or updating pages and sections. Builder also documents exporting Builder Code Project layers back into Figma. It offers Smart Export and Classic Export routes and recommends Figma Auto Layout for best results. If the agency’s source of truth is a live site and the deliverable is an editable Figma file, html.to.design aligns with that direction. If the source is already an approved Figma design and the next step is Builder content or code, Builder is the more directly aligned workflow. Neither description establishes that the tools are interchangeable.

- Choose representative material: a marketing landing page, a responsive or mobile page, and a component-heavy or logged-in screen if those are part of the agency’s work.
- For html.to.design, capture the existing page into Figma. For Builder, use the relevant Figma-to-Content or Figma-to-Code route for the intended project.
- Record time spent on setup, import, and cleanup, then review missing or changed assets, text and font handling, responsive behavior, editability, and handoff quality.
- Compare the result against the agency’s actual acceptance criteria: which pieces must remain editable, which need to match closely, and how much manual refinement the team can afford.
This is an evaluation method, not a claim that either tool has been tested here. A result from one client page may not predict performance on a different site, design system, or access state.
Plans, costs, and the India payment detail
html.to.design
Its official PRO documentation lists Free at $0 with up to 10 imports every 30 days. Pro is listed at $12 per user per month when billed annually or $18 per user per month when billed monthly. The page describes the Pro “unlimited” imports policy as subject to fair use, with a ceiling of 1,000 imports per month. It also says Figma cannot accept Indian-based credit cards for these payments and advises Indian cardholders seeking Pro to obtain a Pro for Teams license for a single user. Builder’s official pricing page currently lists Free at $0 per user per month and Pro at $24 per user per month. It displays multiple product categories, including Code and Content, and plan features such as included Agent Credits and Figma plugin access. - Start with html.to.design if the work begins at an existing webpage and the agency needs a Figma design to edit.
- Start with Builder.io if the work begins with Figma and needs to proceed into Builder Content or Builder Code.
- Use a representative pilot to assess cleanup, fidelity, responsiveness, and handoff for the agency’s own pages and files.
